Face it, most late draft picks never amount to anything. So if there is an opportunity to use one for a unique opportunity, shouldn't we do it? There is a draft prospect that is predicted to go very late, named Joe Crawford. Wouldn't it be worthwhile to pick him and then let him go, just to see headlines that say, "Spurs Fire Joey Crawford"?
There's another prospect that may not even get drafted, named Duncan. Maybe we could invite him to camp and let him do the honors. The headlines would read,
"Duncan Terminates Joey Crawford".
Or... we might even tell the reporter the reason why we let him go. The headlines would read,
Spurs Say, "Joey Crawford Sucks".
Maybe we could give the guy a contract, and then buy it out, so the headlines would say,
"Spurs Pay Off Joey Crawford".
If he failed to get a contract with any other team, the headlines would say,
"No One Wants Joey Crawford In The NBA".
Wouldn't that be a lot more fun than reading a bunch of posts about some guy that never really had a chance to make the team?
