View Full Version : This is What We Do in the Offseason

For anyone who hasn't been through a SpursTalk offseason, this is what we do.
Marcus Bryant (and anyone else who wants to do so), starts threads that say, "Draft Prospect: ..." Then timvp, will make a directory list that links to each of those threads and stick the list at the top of the forum. The directory will allow you to conveniently find a specific player.
We do the same thing with "Free Agent: ..." but the draft comes first.
Don't be overwhelmed by the number of threads. They will drop down if they aren't hot topics. It's just what we do to get organized.
Chime in and give your opinion on the prospects (and free agent possibilities). It's actually quite fun. Even if the players won't ever be a Spur, it's fun to learn about them.

Dont put too much stock into the height's given on their profiles.
The pre-draft camp has accurate measurements ie height (with and without shoes), weight, standing reach etc. They should be released within the next fortnight.

I was here last year for it and it was very enlightening especially to see who we'd never get....

Yo, NuGGeTs-FaN......
How 'bout we trade you guys, Horry, Finley, Oberto, Vaughn, and Stoudamire for A.I. & Carmelo? Think about it---Denver gets a whole, hell of a lot of experience and we get instant offense! Sounds like a hell of a deal to me. Heck, Pop will straighten out Carmelo and get him off the sauce and we'll even dedicate our Championships in 2009, 2010 & 2011 to the Denver Nuggets. I'm sure Karl will go for it since he used to be a Spurs player himself. Teams from the old ABA that trade together, win Championships together! Or something like that...

Here's my opinion about what the Spurs should do in the off-season this year: fuck off and die. Seriously.
Where's the love, dude? The Phoenix Suns will one day win a Championship! That is, as long as you guys drop out of the Big League and start playing in the 'D' League! :ihit

i feel a little dumb for asking, but what exactly are MLE, LLE, and trade exceptions?

If a team is over the salary cap, they get exceptions so they can still sign free agents. The MLE is Mid-Level Exception. It's worth between five and six million.
Start reading here:

and ask questions in this thread. I'm not a cap expert, but some people here really know a lot about it and can answer any questions.

yeah. michael beasley was measured to be 6'8" only instead of 6'10" in orlando pre draft camp...that might affect the top teams decision about him.
