He's pretty good, and I've seen a mock or two that had us taking him. He has talent, and boy if Duncan could teach him...wooo...

I get a good feeling about him.

I figure this is one of the more obvious selections for the Spurs. He won't be a star by any means, but I think he'd be a nice serviceable C to play alongside TD.

I still like Rob better.

If'n we take a big, I'd much rather this guy than any long-term foreign prospect (Tomic, Ajinca, Ibaka).

I like him as a workhorse kinda guy, as others have said not going to be a star. But good shot blocker who'll fight on the boards and play D. The offense will come from putbacks and garbage buckets.

i like thompson a lot, before the splitter situation i used to say too bad we have splitter coming, thomspon would fit here nicely.

Anyone hearing anything about Thompson lately? Up until yesterday, he was looking like a a guy to go somewhere in the mid to late 20's of the first round. Suddenly Draftexpress has him as the 7th pick in the 2nd round after guys like Hardin, Asik, Pekovic and even Ryan Anderson. Has he had some shitty workouts with teams?

The F/C position is pretty volatile for this year's draft. Most of them are not NBA-ready and have flaws in their games. After Brook Lopez there is about a group of 15 that could go from late lottery to early second round...and I think it'll just largely depend on the impression they make for a specific team.

The Warriors are strongly considering Jason Thompson at No. 14. Thompson, a senior power forward at Rider, is listed as a second-round pick in many mock drafts. The Warriors were so impressed by his performance in a 24-player workout last week (attended by more than a dozen teams) that Thompson was reportedly headed back to Oakland for a second workout this weekend.

"I'm not so surprised,'' a Western Conference GM said. "He's pretty versatile, and he can shoot it a little bit, so I can see why Nellie [coach Don Nelson] likes him.''

"I've heard from another team in the top 15 that they're looking at Thompson too,'' a team president said.

Said another GM: "Golden State is all over the map. "They have that big trade exception [of $9.9 million from last year's trade of Jason Richardson to Charlotte; the exception expires June 30] and there are 900 ways they could go.''

Interesting, but not unexpected.

There are a number of skilled PF/C in this year's draft and most of them have varying skill-sets....all it takes is one team to fall in love with JT and he's got his ticket punched. It's certainly the highest I've seen his name mentioned, but he's got the talent and potential to rival some of the others...Jordan, McGee, Ajinca, etc.

Either the person who made this video didn't pick the right plays or Thompson isn't that good. That was one of the weakest highlight packages I've seen of a NBA prospect. He must really be working out well to be cracking the top 20.

Oh and that YouTube doesn't turn into a porno, even though it appears to be heading in that direction early on . . .

When do you expect him to get drafted?
"I've talked to about half a dozen NBA teams – the Spurs, the Hawks, the Nets, etc. There seems to be a wide array of choices here. Most of them think he's going to go in the first round, if not early in the second round. One NBA team told me that there are some teams out there that think he's somewhere in the top-15 choices."

How high (or low) will the top prospects go?

Jason Thompson: Warriors at 14, Suns at 15, Cavs at 19, Nuggets at 20, Nets at 21, Jazz at 23, Spurs at 26, Pistons at 29. Thompson also is all over the board, although it seems like he has a very good chance of landing in the mid-first round, based on the buzz.

If scouting reports are correct, he could help the Spurs. From the videos I've seen, he doesn't look overly impressive.

The way that chick asks questions and looks in the video, it almost does look like one :lol
