Chump's been endorsing him and has been going up in the mocks.
On draftexpress he went from undrafted to... #45. :stirpot:

How effective would drafting a PG would be for the Spurs next season?

It would have little effect, I assume. I think any point guard the Spurs draft would spend just about the whole season in the D-League unless the player drastically improves and is able to make the backup point guard choice an easy one. The only way I see a player from this draft become a part of the Spurs rotation is if it is a shooting guard and Finley leaves, or a big man and Splitter stays in Spain and Kurt leaves as well.

Good measurement and combine results for Taylor -- except he's a ridiculously skinny 165 pounds. Raw, but has some real potential.

And here's a nugget from an article on him that explains his draft status:

For the sake of clarification, Taylor is eligible for this year's draft based on a rule which states, when you leave school early without submitting your name into the draft, and subsequently sign a professional contract, you automatically become eligible for the next draft.

57. San Antonio Spurs

Mike Taylor | PG | Iowa State
Taylor is one of the most athletic point guards in the draft. He's struggled to keep his nose clean, but the Spurs are one of the few teams that don't seem to have a problem in terms of discipline.

Sacramento Likes Mike Taylor

Look for the Kings to draft D-League combo guard Mike Taylor with the 42nd or 43rd pick in the draft tomorrow night, if he’s still on the board at that point. Geoff Petrie has always been a fan of having a combo guard he can throw in off the bench—he hasn’t really had a quality scoring option in that mold since Bobby Jackson. Sacramento’s experiments with Ronnie Price and most recently Quincy Douby haven’t worked out thus far.
