I voted for a wealthy, educated, milquetoast White Democrat in 2004. That didn't work out very well.

I guess Mccain whose wife owns private jet and is worth over 100 million isn't rich either

Uh...when was the last time a poor person was even a viable candidate for the office of president?

John Edwards was raised poor, he's about the closest we've gotten in a long time. But he's a 200K a year lawyer now.

Not to mention that Obama made his money while Dubya made money from Daddy's friends...

You mean it's possible to make something of yourself in this country still...even as a black man? With the way some losers talk, I wouldn't think so...

Anything is possible I suppose if you work hard enough, but it's also hard to argue that the odds are getting much longer against the working poor in this country....for instance, less than 13 years ago you could take 15 hours of college credit for less than $1000 at a local university....today that barely pays for tuition and fees for one class...and studies prove that college grads make twice as much as high-school grads, and those with Masters earn three times that of high-school grads over the course of a life-time....

And to think he and his wife made it during the Reagan years.

*gasp*

Ever heard of William Jefferson Clinton? He was broke when
he won the Presidency. Got rich in the job.

Supposedly he never held a job where he made over
35 grand a year. And Billary was by no means a rich
lady. Remember the futures market fisco.

200K per month would be an underestimation of that sheister's (made his money suing OB's - advertised nationally for parents of children with birth defects) income.

More ignorance pumped out from the American stratosphere.

Repeat after me: Who our president is will have no impact on how strong any of those terrorist groups or terrorist-supporting countries are. They have been around since the 70's, and will be around for at least another 20-30 years. The only thing that will change them is a RADICAL REVOLUTION from within - that is, moderate, modernized Muslims leading the way in their own countries to push aside the fundamentalists.

Which, by the way is the only thing that will save this country from becoming a theocracy of fundamentalist Christians.

Hmm ... you're right that whoever the President is, it will not likely change the structure of the Islamic world, particularly in this election.I do question your optimism that Islam, qua Islam, will be able to radically revolutionize their culture against the radicals. My view is that the Islamic world is in decline and will inevitably fall to radicalism unless the civilized world intervenes. Whether that means diplomacy or sanctions or flat-out war, I don't know. But the problems in the Middle East (Iran, Saudi Arabia) are caused precisely because they are Islamic. They don't have the mechanisms to reject anti-Americanism and hatred of Israel. Long story short.

And ... how is America becoming a theocracy? I'm curious to know.

Islam is the fastest growing religion in the world, and it's not all fundamentalist. Countries like Pakistan and Turkey are attempting to create moderate, Islamic democracies. Turkey has been successful, Pakistan looks to be on the verge of civil war. But there is plenty of evidence to suggest that in Iran, Indonesia, Jordan, and Egypt, and other countries there is support for a moderate Islam.

In this country, groups like the Christian Coalition have quietly infiltrated school boards and local offices to impose their views of morality on women's rights to do what they want with their bodies, on who people can marry legally, on what science teachers should teach, etc. Bush certainly catered to this population, and did significant damage to the Supreme Court in terms of setting us up to be "Christian nation" as opposed to what our founding fathers had intended: a nation founded on the belief that people have the right to free expression of religion and political belief.

Tuition at our local college:
Tuition at Tarrant County College is as follows:

Legal resident of Tarrant County for tuition purposes
$50 per semester hour

Legal resident of any other Texas county for tuition purposes
$73 per semester hour

You can get 15 hours for $750 for locals. I don't think Tarrant County is unique. Most community colleges are pretty affordable.

Yeah, some classes require labs...some don't. But your statement seems a bit hyperbolic.

As one who paid the bill for two kids, I suggest that you not look just at tuition, but rather the mandatory fees.

Yeah, I'm putting one thru too (with 2 more to go!) :bang
But fees vary considerably from institution to institution. Hard to generalize those.

Tarrant County College

I Said University...not community college...they only offer associates degrees...

....that said, there are affordable Universities like Our Lady of the Lake here in San Antonio that offer 4 year degree programs, but the quality of education is far inferior to what you get at other Universities in the city...

Perhaps....I'd suspect that there's a broad range of opinions on that subject...

Good for her...but the vast majority of community college graduates don't go into a medical specialized vocation....
