Same idiot...different causes.

And sorry...I couldn't find the picture of her on her veggie oil bus protesting global warming.

I know...I'm just posting nonsense, it has nothing to do with the topic being discussed...and Nbadan and boutons and most other asshats...they were pro nuclear energy in the 70's. Just as they are pro oil now...

Of course they were...could you imagine them being any other way?

Meanwhile...I sleep well at night knowing that 5.00 gas is the best thing to stave off global warming in a century....unfortunately, I just have this crazy feeling the idiots will find something else to bitch about...call it a hunch.

Whott, a war-loving dubya sucker, refuses to answer the question, but his knee jerks the totally thread-irrelevant Hanoi Jane into the thread.

Tell us again, Whott-the-fuck, with your 5000-word copy/pastiche, how the entire world really, really, really wanted the US to invade Iraq as the only and immediate option,
how Congress pressured dubya into invading against dubya's will(Rove), and
now want the US to stay for a 100 years!

:lol

In spite of dubya's global disapproval and ridiculing of diplomacy, Israel and Syria are talking. Maybe Syria will let Israel take peek at that pile of Iraqi WMDs that were sneeked out? :lol

Just American presidents; Nixon? You like him more?

Stalin, Mao? Saddam?

Let's face it, the yo-yo president of the U.S.A. knows nothing. He is a dunce. He does what he is told to do, says what he is told to say, poses the way he is told to pose. He is a fool.

No. Nonsense. The president cannot be a Fool. Not at this moment in time, when the last living vestiges of the American Dream are on the line. This is not the time to have a bogus rich kid in charge of the White House.

Which is, after all, our house. That is our headquarters, it is where the heart of America lives. So if the president lies and acts giddy about other people's lives, if he wantonly and stupidly endorses mass murder by definition, a loud and meaningless animal with no functional intelligence and no balls.

To say this goofy child president is looking more and more like Richard Nixon in the summer of 1974 would be a flagrant insult to Nixon.

Whoops! Did I say that? Is it even vaguely possible that some New Age Republican whore-beast of a false president could actually make Richard Nixon look like a Liberal?

The capacity of these vicious assholes we elected to be in charge of our lives for four years to commit terminal damage to our lives and our souls and our loved ones is far beyond Nixon's. Shit! Nixon was the creator of many of the once-proud historical landmarks that these dumb bastards are savagely destroying now: the Clean Air Act of 1970; Campaign Finance Reform; the endangered species act; a Real-Politik dialogue with China; and on and on.

The prevailing quality of life in America-by any accepted methods of measuring-was inarguably freer and more politically open under Nixon than it is today in this evil year of our Lord 2002.

The Boss was a certified monster who deserved to be impeached and banished. He was a truthless creature of former FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover, a foul human monument to corruption and depravity on a scale that dwarfs any other public official in American history. But Nixon was at least smart enough to understand why so many honorable patriotic U.S. citizens despised him. He was a Liar. The truth was not in him.

Nixon believed, as he said many times, that if the president of the United States does it, it can't be illegal. But Nixon never understood the much higher and meaner truth of Bob Dylan's warning that "To live outside the law you must be honest."

The difference between an outlaw and a war criminal is the difference between a pedophile and a Pederast: The pedophile is a person who thinks about sexual behavior with children, and the Pederast does these things. He lays hands on innocent children, he penetrates them and changes their lives forever.

Being the object of a pedophile's warped affections is a Routine feature of growing up in America, and being a victim of a Pederast's crazed "love" is part of dying. Innocence is no longer an option. Once penetrated, the child becomes a Queer in his own mind, and that is not much different than murder.

Richard Nixon crossed the line when he began murdering foreigners in the name of "family values"- and George Bush crossed it when he sneaked into office and began killing brown skinned children in the name of Jesus and the American people.

When Muhammad Ali declined to be drafted and forced to kill "gooks" in Vietnam he said, "I ain't got nothin' against them Viet Cong. No Cong ever called me ######." I agreed with him, according to my own personal ethics and values. He was right.

If we all had a dash of Muhammad Ali's eloquent courage, this country and the world would be a better place today because of it. Okay. That's it for now. Read it and weep....

See you tomorrow, folks. You haven't heard the last of me. I am the one who speaks for the spirit of freedom and decency in you. Shit. Somebody has to do it. We have become a Nazi monster in the eyes of the whole world-a nation of bullies and bastards who would rather kill than live peacefully. We are not just Whores for power and oil, but killer whores with hate and fear in our hearts. We are human scum, and that is how history will judge us... No redeeming social value. Just whores. Get out of our way, or we'll kill you.

Well, shit on that dumbness. George W. Bush does not speak for me or my son or my mother or my friends or the people I respect in this world. We didn't vote for these cheap, greedy little killers who speak for America today- and we will not vote for them again in 2002. Or 2004. Or ever.

Who does vote for these dishonest shitheads? Who among us can be happy and proud of having all this innocent blood on our hands? Who are these swine? These flag-sucking half-wits who get fleeced and fooled by stupid little rich kids like George Bush? They are the same ones who wanted to have MuhammadAli locked up for refusing to kill "gooks". They speak for all that is cruel and stupid and vicious in the American character. They are racists and hate mongers among us-they are the Ku Klux Klan.
I piss down the throats of these Nazis. And I am too old to worry about whether they like it or not.
Fuck them

And yes. I'd rather have Saddam running Iraq than George Bush getting our asses kicked in Iraq.

What a complete bunch of red, white and blue colored bullshit. You should know that it is the hated IDF that does most of the killing and maiming in Israel not the other way around. For every Israeli citizen that gets bombed the Palestinians suffer ten murders at the hands of the despicable Israeli army. And no one puts a gun to the head of every stupid idiot that wants to sign up with the military so he or she can get their asses shot off. To say that people sign up to be in Bush's stupid, useless occupation or some bullshit wild goose chase in Afghanistan because of some sense of deluded patriotic loyalty to the flag is baloney. People sign up because they need a job and a paycheck. No matter how minuscule it may be.

And if they can keep from getting blown to bits in some Godforsaken hellhole and simultaneously "become a hero" then great. Or worse, walk around with one leg or less while battling the Bushies tooth and nail for health and other benefits that they have earned. And what do president stupid ass and his henchman Cheney and all the other war pigs do in the meantime? Watch their fucking profits soar. There's a reason why we don't see the coffins stuffed with dead bodies unloaded at Dover AFB on those flashy, feel good Army ads that you see on TV during ballgames. It's because the Bushies want to prevent America from seeing the real result of their ill-conceived occupation. Wakeup and smell the coffee sarge. You've been used.

Cool that youre in the military.

But lets assume that you are in favor of this occupation.

Again, lets make a giant leap of assumption and say every man and woman in the military, from boots to brass, are in favor of this occupation and love every moment of their job.

Lets just assume thats completely true.

So because the military favors a war/occupation, does that mean the People should as well by default?

I don't think that what Pep's saying -- that because the military favors occupation, we ought to as well. That would be committing the fallacy known as the "appeal to authority" or the "testimonial."

I think what he's saying is, the media is not really reporting (not all that well) what is really happening on the ground in Iraq. Pep, as a solider, is in a position to know things that are happening that might not be covered or emphasized by the media. That was the question -- we rightly criticize the media for bias, but then we believe their Iraq coverage. Ironic, to say the least.

Because the military supports an offensive, that fact should have zero bearing on the support for such things at home.

If we allowed the military to dictate foreign policy, we'd be in endless war.
The inmates are not running the asylum, for lack of a better analogy.

Hi i am from china. I have to say i hate US. and most world hate US as well. The US starts wars for wrong reasons. Korean war US lost and invade for none of its business. china and north korea kick usa ass. Vietnam US invade for dumb reason. They think Vietnam side with china in communist theory but this not true. vietnam hates china. so to stop communist spread us attack. and they lost again. in 1980 US support terrorist to fight soviet union in afghanistan. same terrorist supposedly led attack 9/11 on US. US invade Iraq supposedly because of WMD and sadaam. more people have died since sadaam was wrongly killed. this is true fact. US army has no honor because it never win any war except wwII. that was good win but has not won war in long time. people liberation army defeat japan and usa 2 big power in world.

So because the military favors a war/occupation, does that mean the People should as well by default?
Does it matter? At the time, a majority of people was for the war. Right or wrong, no matter how good or bad the intel was, we cannot just cut and run. We need to finish what was started. I have very little respect for those who would argue against that point. If someone dislikes it. Fine. If someone says they never wanted in. Fine. To just leave before things are finished would be an act of evil.

We need to finish what was started.

How would you suggest we go about doing that? What specifically do we need to do differently from the past half a decade? And what were our goals when we invaded that we now need to finish?

Oh wait... our goal was to eradicate WMD's so Iraq didn't pose a threat to the US. Unfortunately there weren't any WMD's and Iraq never posed a threat in the first place. And last time I checked with the right wing freedom was rampant in Iraq, so according to you guys we're good there.

And don't use the carefully manufactured phrase of cut and run- it makes you sound like even more of a brainwashed idealogue.

I'm sorry you believe that's all there was to it. How many times have the several reasons been said, but it always comes back to the one weak item. Is there any sense in continuing this when you outright ignore the other relevant facts?

We were enforcing UN resolutions.

Desert Storm ended with the agreements Saddam broke.

president Clinton signed legislation to take out Saddam.

Congress voted to go.

Other reasons that I forget due to time.

Again, right or wrong, we are there now. We cannot leave until we secure security for the people of Iraq. Id you think we should just leave, then you probably were OK with the holocaust also? What do you think will happen over here if we just leave before stabilizing things?

Yes, I do think we should just leave. And no, don't callously and offensively equate that with me somehow condoning the Holocaust. How strawman can you get?

If we left, I think most likely Iran would then empower the Shias to the point that they could take control of the country and somebody, maybe Al Sadr, would enforce stability and set up an extremist regime far worse than that of Saddam, but probably far distanced from Al-Qaida's or any other terrorist agenda.

If it's a bloodbath or an extremist regime doesn't really matter to me. In my mind it beats continuing to spend trillions of American Dollars and thousands of American lives.

If it is a bloodbath... that's blood on the souls of the people who started this thing- George Bush and his supporters and I'm not the one that someday is going to have answer for that at the gates of hell.

ChumpDumper's inconsequential (and ignored) drivel aside, I'll answer my own question.

He's not.

For several decades, the Democratic Party has pursued policies designed to drive up the cost of petroleum, and therefore gas at the pump. Remarkably, the Democrats don't seem to have taken much of a political hit from the current spike in gas prices. Probably that's because most people don't realize how different the two parties' energy policies have been.

Congressman Roy Blunt put together these data to highlight the differences between House Republicans and House Democrats on energy policy:

ANWR Exploration
House Republicans: 91% Supported
House Democrats: 86% Opposed

Coal-to-Liquid
House Republicans: 97% Supported
House Democrats: 78% Opposed

Oil Shale Exploration
House Republicans: 90% Supported
House Democrats: 86% Opposed

Outer Continental Shelf (OCS) Exploration
House Republicans: 81% Supported
House Democrats: 83% Opposed

Refinery Increased Capacity
House Republicans: 97% Supported
House Democrats: 96% Opposed

SUMMARY

91% of House Republicans have historically voted to increase the production of American-made oil and gas.

86% of House Democrats have historically voted against increasing the production of American-made oil and gas.

It's useful to keep this sort of thing in mind when we hear (on something like a daily basis these days) that the Republicans have run out of ideas or that Republican ideas didn't work. The truth is that most major Republican ideas weren't tried because the Democrats blocked them. Increasing the domestic production of oil and gas (a move so obvious it barely meets the standard for being an idea) is hardly the only example. Social security reform and school choice also come quickly to mind. Republican-backed policies for increasing the number of Americans with health insurance were also blocked by Democrats. And so forth.

That's why this thread, begun with the empty rhetoric of "WTF happened to the BUSH lovers?" in the context of a ostensible discussion on gasoline prices, devolved into nonsense about nothing.

Nice going...

I consider high oil prices a good thing. The higher the better in my opinion.

And fuck going into ANWR. I'd rather see oil jump another $100 bucks a barrel before seeing one single caribou herd alter it's migration patterns in even the slightest of degrees.

we need to pay for the construction, materials, labor, housing, distribution and everything else involved in drilling for the oil companies so they can turn around and sell it for max dollars on the world market.

But there is no good evidence it was intentionally misleading by the administration. The only material that appears intentionally misleading was by the CIA. Not anyone in the White House.

Keep holding on the erroneous ideas about the facts. Someday you will realize how foolish you are, and how misplaced your hatred is. Tenet is the only one who appears to have trumped up any evidence. President Bush went by what he was supplied, relying on the accuracy of others.

Funny how Caribou dwelling near the pipeline in Alaska have grown in herd sizes. The warmth from the heated oil keeps areas more habitable for them! They are raised above the ground as not to cut off wildlife movement. Some places are at ground level, but then they raise it for access every so often.

http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x262/Wild_Cobra/PipeandCaribou.jpg http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x262/Wild_Cobra/Pipe.jpg

From a 2001 article titled Alaska's Arctic National Wildlife Refuge finds itself at the center of a national drama (http://www.onlineathens.com/stories/072801/new_0728010034.shtml):

Murkowski says the dramatically increased population of the Central Arctic caribou herd near existing oil fields 120 miles west of Kaktovik shows that development isn't a threat to wildlife. The herd numbered 3,000 when trans-Alaska oil pipeline construction began in the mid-1970s and is more than 27,000 now.

The Central Arctic herd, about half of which wanders the 1002 area where drilling would occur, has been on the rise since the oil boom on the North Slope, increasing from 3,000 animals in the early 1970s to 27,000 as of this past winter. Caribou wander by the drilling sites and seek shade under the elevated pipelines. Supporters of oil exploration in the arctic refuge say the Central Arctic herd's experience proves development and wildlife can co-exist.

While the initial Prudhoe Bay field is considered an impediment to the free passage of caribou, mitigation measures at neighboring fields developed later -- including elevated pipelines and increased distances between pipelines and heavily traveled roads -- resulted in the caribou "habituating" to the infrastructure, according to industry-financed studies. Gravel pads even provide relief from swarms of insects that induce post-calving stress in midsummer.

Who's statistic and from when? That's just under 1% if you mean when gas was $1.20 per gallon. If it came from someone who is against the project, we can assume the figure is the lowest possible calculation.

Let me ask you something. If it isn't worth going after, then why not open it up for the oil companies and let their experts make that determination rather than political pundits?
