What's with all this Pargo talk ?

The Spurs need somebody that knows their role, to blend in with TMT, not somebody that inexplicably took every shot in crunch time for New Orleans during Game 7 instead of Chris Paul or David West.........who did that guy think he was ?

And you may argue that the Spurs were taking away West and Paul and were willing to let Pargo shoot......if so, why would the Spurs want somebody on their team that they don't even respect enough to defend against as an opponent?

or maybe Pargo is just a flat out baller and couldn't be stopped ?

regardless, he will almost undoubtedly just re-sign with the Hornets long term anyhow, or exercise the player option that he has on his contract for next year.

pargo has shown flashes of clutch play making, like when he was on the bulls, i think he made 3 3s in a row before arenas broke their hearts. besides, we dont need him to play in the clutch. we just need him to spell some minutes for parker and score here and there. he is a capable ball handler/ play maker.

He has a very good shot. He is more offensive minded and I think people here like him because he can score in bunches. The Spurs lack in that area in case someone didn't notice.

People see that Tony's backup is Jacque Vaughn....nuff said.

I'm one of those that thinks Pargo could be good for the Spurs, because Pop actually encourages his role players to shoot the ball. I also think Pop is smart enough to convey that the offense runs through Manu, Tim, or Tony down the stretch...don't see "Game 7 Pargo" showing up in a Spurs uni.

Having said that, I think he's found a niche with the Hornets and will probably sign a long-term deal to be Paul's backup.

I liked Pargo better when the Spurs could have signed him for the minimum. I don't really like the idea of having to pay a couple million for him.

Saving money and buying low on someone like Juan Dixon probably makes more sense.

People hating on Pargo seem to forget that Tony's hasn't had a decent backup since Speedy Claxton. Beno isn't worth mentioning, but I think I know that when Vaughn is on the court the Spurs are playing 4 on 5. Pargo ain't the messiah but he's got experience backing up an All-Star.

JT I agree he does have some experience but when it matters the most and TP happens to go down would you want Pargo there? He has no defense, his shot is just unpredictable as well.

The difference between Pargo and Juan Dixon (and Eddie House, for that matter) is negligible.

The Spurs have lacked that kind of one-dimensional sparkplug at the small guard position since Steve Kerr left - shoehorning Barry into it has always presented matchup problems.

I've liked Pargo ever since I've seen him in L.A. and I think he boosted his game a bit with N.O. this year. He played pretty good defense again Tony who was abusing Chris Paul the entire series....so much so Byron Scott began putting Pargo on TP to ensure the Spurs didn't close out quarters (and especially the 1st half of games) strongly. TP was frustrated by Pargo ability to keep his feet in front of him when Tony tried to cross him over multiple times, and he also kept his hand active and squared Parker up. Pargo could allow TP to move to the 2-guard to help spell Manu while still keeping credible scoring threats on the floor and he has a good enoug shots to keep defenses honest (unlike Vaughn). Like many have stated, we will have to see if he signs longterm with the Hornets, but I liken his game to Speedy Claxton's who was BIG for the Spurs during Tony's early struggles.
