How about the Tech Geek zone :P

I'm a tech geek. I'll admit it so it doesn't bother me.

So far, four people have asked about a music forum - I might add it. But dozens have people have asked for a tech forum, so I did it first.

No Problems at all with the name Kori, but can you update the Forum Jump code at the top of the screen? (The one between Search and Log Out).

It doesnt show all of the forums, unless that was intended, or im supposed to set that myself?

I will talk to Slomo and timvp to see. It's not an option that comes with vBulletin, so we have to install the hack and test it on the server, etc.

You should roll a Charisma check now, and if you fail then you must pass a Saving Throw vs. Charm otherwise he will begin to throw a fit.

Geek is the new cool, perhaps even the new black. Being a geek, providing that some rudimentary social skills are present, is not a social hindrance. In fact, it is generally well-regarded. So, short answer to the original question: No.

You must not be a geek. All you need to do is type this in:

See how easy that is.

Agreed. When I was a youngin', pirating floppys to game on my Commodore 64, I was not particularly cool. Still, the increased social standing is currently beneficial, especially here in the geeky Pacific Northwest.

I'm younger than you, but I was heavily into comics and the like when I was a kid of the 90s. I knew who Deadpool was when I saw his cameos in the X-Men SatAM, for example. But, srsly, it bothers the hell out of me how "acceptable" comics have become since the movies hit at the box office. But, on the other hand, it does broaden people's horizons, so...meh.

Yeah, there are obviously pros and cons to the commodification of previously maginalized material.

I watched a clearly wasted Mudhoney/Nirvana destroy everything on stage in 1991 in North Carolina. Four years later I wanted to kill every member of Bush.

So be it. I try to direct the fans of Bioshock(a great game) to System Shock and the Fallout series. The fans of the White Stripes to Iggy Pop and MC5. All told, a good thing.

I know that sounds pedantic or even condescending, but I don't mean it that way. Your post just got me thinkin', is all

Easy, sure - but that involves typing. Geeks require the least effort possible - and 2 mouse clicks is definitely easier than typing that!

Do I have to spell it all out for you? You should have noticed that the Spurs forum has the URL:

Just type a 3 before the 2 and enter. Don't strain yourself.

Geez, you are an agressive type, arent you? I am not an idiot, yes i do know how forums work, and *gasp* know what a web address is. I am even aware of the many ways of navigating this website.

I was just merely suggesting that it would be cool if that forum jump link had all of the forums on it, not specifically for myself, but for everyone. Not everyone can be as e-cool as you.

Being a geek is a lot less geeky than it used to be. I mean, what with cell phone ringtones, digital cameras, stolen media and the kids and their damn myspaces, you're fucked in this world if you don't know your way around computers. And with video games being as good as they are now, it's become a lot more mainstream to be a gamer. In any case, if I knew as much about computers and played as many video games in high school as I do now I probably would have been crucified, but the clearly times have and are a changin.

It's the digital age for christsakes- if we use the word digital to describe our entire historical epoch, it probably isn't that geeky anymore to be informed about technology.
