What is SpursTalk's opinion on cheat codes? My personal opinion has always been, beat the game legitimately first, and then go back and have fun with codes.

It depends on the nature of the cheat. If it doesn't make it easier (i.e. Graphic changes), I'll use it on a first play-through.

Yeah I use cheat codes just to fuck around and make the game funner after I usually end up beating the game and the only code I have used is to use an extra character code.

Also what about ingame glitches that you can take advantage of? Is that considered cheating?

I don't consider taking advantage of a glitch (I.e. MegaMan's infamouse "Pause Trick") cheating.

i never use cheats until i have beaten the game on my own first. even then, i rarely like to use cheats, unless i just got like 20 minutes of time to waste, and feel like doing normally impossible things with the game.

or in blaster master, when you pause while a grenade is exploding, it keeps hitting the boss during the time spent paused.

What is the Konami code?

The required component is...

^ ^ V V < > < > B A

Start is usually tagged on to the end. Sometimes Select Start. But usually that was just to start or unpause the game.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Konami_Code

I have a shirt with The Code on it too. But those arent that uncommon these days. Damn sheep.

I only use cheats after winning the game without any first. Then I go back and see how much faster is it with codes.

I like to play the game straight through cheat free and then play with cheats. Unless the cheat is of course a blood code...

OK I will admit I used the paintball cheat in Goldeneye before finishing the game legit first. I'm not worthy!

Cheats are a dying trend in games nowadays, which is unfortunate, but I am in the camp of beating a game legit, then toying around with the codes.

I used the "trapping the enemies with walls technique" in Command & Conquer 1. I think that's the only computer game that I needed "to cheat" to beat the game.

I don't always beat a game first before playing with the codes. I lost the urge a long time ago to make that impossible jump 100 times before succeeding or spend a week on a puzzle. If the choice is to cheat and keep playing or tossing a game to the side, I'll probably cheat. I don't feel less for doing it. I just don't have the time to take a week off and play non-stop like I did when Super Mario 64 was released. Mainly because I am married now. :lol
