I have heard you can download and save flv videos from youtube but when I google it I came up with this..

VooDoo Downloader, didn't work.
www.keepvid.com, didn't work but once, never did again

So is there a prog out there safe able to download youtube vids?

Too bad there isn't one that could download flv videos from anywhere.

What browser are you using?

If you're using IE, go lookup IE7 Pro and once that's enabled, install the plugin that allows you to download the video.

If you're using FF, there's an add-on that does it there also.

I use the "Fast video download" add-on for firefox. It leaves a small icon in the down right corner of the browser. All I have to do is click on it to download the video.
Then you should download a flv player. And if you want to watch the videos without your computer (in your cell phone or mp4 player), then you should download a video converter.

It also allows you to change the type of file the video is.

I tried the FF add on, it downloaded a 2min vid in like .5 secs, and of course the video didnt work. It was 800 bytes. LMAO

Thx for the replies. Don't know if it's my net connection or what now.

Vixy.net should work pretty well, but download the beta software, the one embedded in the webpage is too slow.

It's still in BETA release so it will expire at Jun/30/2008.

That being above the installer link on vixy E20. What's that going to mean?

I think it will either stop working or they will stop letting people download the Beta Release. If the release stops working you can always use the method on their website, exact same procedure except you do it in the browser and it takes a little while longer, but you still have 23 days to use their Beta Release, so better start cracking.

That add-on for FireFox was great! I just added it. Very useful thread.

The easiest way to download youtube video is the following:

Say I want to download this file:
5PDdb48g4_c

1. Note the URL is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5PDdb48g4_c
2. Go to http://www.kissyoutube.com/watch?v=5PDdb48g4_c (http://www.kissyoutube.com/watch?v=5PDdb48g4_c)
3. Download the file. Note it will be called get_video if you download it with Firefox. Rename it to something.flv

acutally for FF users the easiest way i found out is installing the add on "downloadhelper". one click, boom, saved.
