This guy is a complete moron or APD is has put a nice big target on his back. Dude should have bailed from town a long time ago.

AUSTIN, Texas -- Chicago Bears running back Cedric Benson was charged with drunken driving after being arrested for the second time in a little more than a month.

Authorities said Benson was arrested early Saturday in downtown Austin after he failed a field sobriety test. The former Texas star was charged with driving while intoxicated and was released on bond.

The arrest comes a month after Benson was charged with boating while intoxicated and resisting arrest. He has said that neither charge is true, and the cases are pending.

Austin police spokeswoman Veneza Aguinaga said Benson, who was pulled over for running a red light, refused to take a breath test or provide blood samples Saturday.

A message left with an answering service for Benson's attorney was not immediately returned. A Bears representative was not immediately available for comment.

Benson was a first-round pick in 2005 and started 11 games last season. Three weeks ago, he took part in voluntary spring workouts in Illinois, lining up in the Bears' first-team backfield.

He has a June 30 court date for the May 5 arrest, which took place while operating a 30-foot boat on Lake Travis near Austin. Authorities say he resisted arrest and had to use pepper spray to subdue him; Benson has denied he resisted and says officers used excessive force.

In 2003, Benson was sentenced to eight days in jail on a misdemeanor trespassing charge after forcing his way into an apartment to look for a reported stolen TV.

The Bears took Benson with the fourth pick in the 2005 draft after he rushed for more than 5,500 yards and 64 touchdowns at the University of Texas. But instead of developing into a star, the 25-year-old has been plagued by injuries and alienated teammates with blunt comments.

In three years with the Bears, Benson has rushed for 1,593 yards and 10 touchdowns, averaging 3.8 yards a carry. He's also missed 13 games. And the Bears made it clear their patience was wearing thin by drafting Tulane running back Matt Forte in the second round of April's NFL draft.

Whats going on with these guys? Damn.

You think you'd learn after messing up one time, but to keep this up?

This guy will be out of the NFL soon or he'll kill someone or himself.

What's with UT that their offensive players all turn into emo alcoholics? I know Austin is the most emo town in Texas but damn.

He doesn't have any old friends in Austin that he can get to drive him around for money or free drinks? Or drag somebody out of Midland, they'd probably work for less.

Cowboys have Marion Barber, Felix Jones, and Tashard Choice.

Barber and a blue chip rookie. 2 solid RB's is pretty rare.

Barber has never been the #1 back and I'm a Felix Jones fan, but a rookie is still a rookie. Not sure how you can call him solid when you've never seen him play in the NFL.

One injury and the Cowboys running game could be screwed.

We'll see

See what? See how he does? If he performs like a solid RB, then he deserves the tag of a solid RB. Nothing stupid about that. Calling him a solid RB right now with zero evidence whatsoever is the stupid part.

Then again, Cowboy Fan was calling Drew Henson a franchise QB cuz of how he looked in workouts. That worked out.

Geez dude...we'll see means we'll see how it plays out...God forbid a fan is positive. He was a solid RB in college...let's see how he does in the pros.

nobody who has played in zero NFL games and rushed for zero yards is currently a "solid" RB by any stretch.

But a solid rookie who is a blue chip, so thus a solid RB until we know otherwise.

If you use that reasoning you would have to say Ki-Jana Carter, Rashan Salaam and Blair Thomas were all solid NFL running backs.

You can't say the Cowboys are stacked at RB and be taking serious. A guy who never has been a starter, a rookie who never was a starter in college and a guy only his mommy knows who he is. Common sense dictates u can't.

Cedric Benson playing for the Cowboys is a small insurance policy. Cowboys should not take him because you want to see what ur number one pick can do and fact is Cedric has been a huge disapointment so far in the league and to split 10 carries (give or take a few) with Lopez and who ever that other guy listed would be stupid.

I don't know..what a does a starter mean in a 2 back system? Not much. Its a very solid combo no matter what.

:jack

Not until he proves himself on the field in real games.

The best you can say about the Cowboys running situation right now is that it's potentially solid.

If calling rookies solid before they even play a game is acceptable, then fuck it, the Cowboys don't have a chance this year anyways. The Patriots solved their lack of athleticism at LB because they have a solid LB in Jerod Mayo. They have no problems at CB anymore because they have a solid corner in Terrence Wheatley. 19-0. suck it.
