Spanish Standout Fernandez Set To Join Blazers

Spanish guard Rudy Fernandez has announced that he is leaving his European team to join the Portland Trail Blazers, the Associated Press is reporting.

Fernandez made the announcement at a press conference in Spain.

"It has not been easy for me to take this decision, but it is the moment to face new challenges," Fernandez said. "Now, I have the chance to fulfill a dream and become part of the NBA."

Wow I just saw this mix of Rudy - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UzaRAZ_yNTQ, He looks like he can be a spectacular player but then again even Adonal Foyle looks like a spectacular player on youtube. We'll see how he handles the great defense, great athleticism and great pressure of the NBA. Good luck to him.

Blazers will be good next year. I think they could take Denver's spot in the playoffs. Would leave quality teams like the Warriors, Kings (if healthy), and Nuggets out. The West is too strong.

I think the Kings will finally make their return to power next year, they won't be elite but they'll be pretty good imo.

We will win it all next year. We are too damn good. We're very young, but our talent is out of this world!

I feel bad for Blazers fans.

Once Greg Oden breaks his shoulder blade and Rudy Fernandez blows out a knee, they'll be crushed once again.

He gets it off fast, but the form on his jumpshot looks like shit.

Forget the 8-seed. A healthy Oden will have them take Phoenix's or Utah's 5/6 seed.

I doubt the Blazers will contend next year, although they'll probably make the playoffs. The 2009-2010 season is the first year I think they'll be a contender. All of this depends on Oden though and how good he really is. Without Oden, they're a very athletic, talented, and young team... but also a half court jump shooting team without a facilitating point guard.

If Oden lives up to the hype, I'm scared.

lakers, hornets if healthy, spurs, jazz, a healthy houston team, suns, mavs will all be better then then blazers

Nice looking or effective? I think his shot looks terribly unorthodox. From that video it appeared to me like he can create it on his own, get it off quick as hell and it apparently from what I've read it goes in A LOT, but he kicks his legs out, sticks his arms forward and fades away a little more than he needs to IMO.

As a Jazz fan Portland scares the shit out of me. Boozer's pussy ass can't do shit against big men who know how to play even marginal defense and he doesn't play any himself. We might do better against shitty teams and consequently end up with a better record, but I could see Oden punking the shit out of my team's front court if not next year, the season after.

gasl and odom are to long for boozer

boozer should go up with more force though
I am not sold oden will be all that
his one leg is longer then the other
I think he will get hurt every season
nba seaon is a LONG 82 games plus playoffs
and he put all that weight on
can his knees handle it?
