Pro football is my favorite of all of the professional sports so I can relate to how you feel. The NBA playoffs, especially when the Spurs are involved, helps some but it's after they end that the doldrums start for me....that stretch b/t June and the end of late July/early August is a long one until the training camps open....

It's important that the commissar develops a plan to extend the nfl season, even if it's just an illusion of a longer season. Maybe, by having 2 bye weeks, it would push everything back 2 weeks.
