I say Wilks will be put in the IL. Barry can be the 3rd point guard.

I think it will be Marks. He looks pretty lost on the court.

What I don't understand is: Why let Marks play so much if he's going right back to the IR. I understand thate he played 12 minutes against the Kings because the Spurs were up by 20. But in the Hornets game, it was close all the way, and Marks still played a lot.

Because Malik is in the doghouse and Massenburg isn't a real good matchup vs the Hornets. So the only bigs were Duncan, Horry and Marks.

I know Malik is in the doghouse but doesn't it make more sense to play someone that you are going to use later on?
Kori Ellis

Yes it does.
But Malik didn't see the floor a lot of games last year when he was needed either. I guess when you are in the doghouse, you are in the doghouse.

Dang it. Coach Pop is stubborn sometimes.

Suppressing Malik is making matters worse. When Malik actually plays, he tries too hard to be good, therby deviating from his game. That's why he making bonehead plays lately.

Yep. And we'll need Malik a lot more than Horry, Rasho, or Mass should we wind up facing the Heat in the post season.
We screwed up last season by not giving Malik any PT against LA...and going into that series with him lost.
IMO, Malik defends Shaq better than anyone on the team, including Duncan.

We just need give Malik a chance. Coach Pop tends to go with the Player that's hot at the time. But it's early in the season, wins do not matter all that much. Look at Barry, for example. If Barry didn't get out of his shooting slump with the limited amout of playing time, he's probably won't play that much the rest of the season.

"early in the season, wins do not matter all that much"
huh? at 46 games done, we are well into the 2nd half of the season.
"Wins don't matter all the much", but losses sure do when ... as April 20th arrives.

Very well then, the Kiwi.
We are deeper at center than pg.
We have Rose, Horry, Rasho, Mass, and TD.
We only have 3 pgs....so it makes sense to keep Wilkes actice in case the other two get sick or get in foul trouble.

Just to make the point, both Ginobili and Barry are capable of playing the 1, if need be.
Something to consider, but I'm betting you're probably right. It just seems like Pop's mentality to keep a third-stringer around, rather than having to play Musical Point Gaurds.
I still want Marks to get his chance. Granted, he has looked a little bewildered on the court, but it's his third game back from a 2 year layoff and he's gotten spot minutes, at best. It's hard to make a good impression that way. How long did it take for Brent Barry to prove that earlier in the season?

This probably a stupid questions. But Why is Mark's nickname Kiwi?
I was one who thought Marks would show that he belongs once he got some playing time. However, his lack of defensive mobility is staggering (heh) so it looks like it's back to the IR with him when Rasho comes back. Guess I didn't realize how fleet of foot Rasho actually is.

Because he acts like a fruit after someone passes him the ball and he gets fouled.

rose did the stupid thing not pop
putting your shirt over your head while on the court and having your guy you are to be guarded will result in being benched
rose has been given a chance this year.
I beleive last night was rse first dnc this year. he had more last year (in which he said he quit trying)

okay.... MALIK IS PRACTICLY A VETERAN! he could start acting like one!
Can you imagine Barry pulling his t-shirt over his head? Even a rookie like Beno has more sense than him. Too bad we cant trade him for anyone.

Kiwis is a name given to people from New Zealand, like Brits are people from Great Britain, Yanks are from the US, etc etc.

I was thinking Wilks, but with Beno re-agravating his shoulder injury, it'll probably be one of Marks or TMass.

I think that Mike Wilks has actually shown himself to be capable of providing a contribution when called upon. After the point guard debacle of last season, I don't think Pop will ever choose to be left without 2 guys he can rely upon at the point.
The answer to the question, though, is really simple. When a big went down, the Spurs activated a big. When that big is ready to come back, they will sit another big down. Absent some other injury between now and then, when Rasho is ready to go, I'd be shocked if Marks doesn't develop some sort of cervical strain or knee contusion or whatever injury de jour the Spurs are using.

NZ calling it a Kiwi fruit was clever markeing, piggy-backing on the Kiwi bird fame. And the pronounciation is universally very easy, also.
