Yup...anyone see a pattern here???
2003 - Spurs win NBA Title
2004 - .4 - Lakers get crushed by the Pistons in the Finals
2005 - Spurs win NBA Title
2006 - Manu foul - Mavs get embarrassed by the Heat in the Finals
2007 - Spurs win NBA Title
2008 - Manu hurt - Lakers suffer the biggest choke in NBA history in Game 4 of the Finals and fall behind 3-1...no team in Finals history has ever come back from a 3-1 deficit.
Stay tuned...more to come...

Don't forget in 08' the Barry foul, 2-2 , 3-1, was crucial
In 06', Duncan got fouled, for the put back in game 7...didn't call that with 2 seconds left.
In 06' Miami Heat make up karmaic call with Wade 1.3 seconds left, gets awarded FT in crucial game.. :pctoss

If Manu was not hurt you would have lost this year. I heard this bullshit in 06 when we lost, that we were done. Spurs make a few tweaks and come into next years playoffs with a healthy big 3 and they can win it all. You are crazy to feel otherwise.

Woulda, coulda, shoulda. Old teams get hurt. You can't win with just experience, you need experience and athleticism.
If it's not Manu next season it will be one of your other players on the wrong side of 30. Your FO made a huge mistake by not developing young talent and giving the veterans another shot. Now you are in an impossible situation where you don't have the draft picks or the cap space to really attract or bring in fresh young blood.

Uh, they've replenished the supporting cast before with less. They'll actually use their MLE & LLE this summer as they are nowhere near the Lux Tax threshold. Throw in a trade exception, 3 picks, and Mahinmi joining the rotation and they're fine.

They've replenished their supporting casts by getting steals late in the draft when the NBA knew little about international players. There are no more Ginobli's or Parkers that you can get with late draft picks.

The supporting cast outside of Parker and Ginobili. Picks #26 and 45 are in the vicinity in which the vaunted Laker scrub bench was formed so it shouldn't be too hard to pick up a couple useful players. 'The Spurs are old and on the decline' song has been playing for 10 years now.

Yep and it is all about health. If the main components are healthy, they will have a shot at it. Duncan is only 32, with Tony coming into his prime. Jordan won titles when he was in his mid 30's. Our run is not over, i believe in #21, he'll get us back there.

Sorry man, the Spurs are pretty much done and any objective fan can see that. They will always be good to make the playoffs, but that's about it at this point.
The Spurs need youth, and youth takes time to develop, and the Spurs don't have time. They need to add impact players now, but they are not a big enough market to attract quality FA's. They are in a shitty situation as far as reloading, no Tiaggo Splitter hurts.

Spurs will win in 2009. They're still the best team in the West, and they'll most probably be even better next season when we make some good additions to the roster. If it wasn't for Manu's injury and the crappy scheduling, we'd be fighting the Celtics right now.

Funny, they've been developing a young, athletic big during this time. I'm sure they can pick up someone young and somewhat polished with a contract starting at up to $5.5 mil. No worries.

If the regular season sees more disparity like the normal regular seasons before 2008, then Spurs will be right back in it.
You can never count out the Spurs with their big three intact. Hopefully an understated offseason fortune will give us the edge to benefit us more, but I have confidence that the Spurs can be resilient. They're too smart.
