Who do you like better? I prefer Aldridge as he's younger and a much better defensive player.

Aldridge. Younger and hasn't reached his full potential.

i laugh at this statement, much better defensive player, there's probably a typo somewhere in there but aldridge would get knock around the post even more than gasol, if aldridge ever was a good defensive player he would be a premier big man, he can't defend anyone worth jack, maybe that will change, but at the moment he's just a skinnier version of gasol, with the same soft touch around the basket, a better jumper with his back to the basket though.

Not that head to head matchup stats matter, but they went at it 5 times this year... 3 times since Pau became a Laker

LaMarcus averaged 40 MPG, 24 PPG on 53%, 8.6 RBs, 1.2 ASST, 1.8 STLS, 1.4 BLKS
Gasol averaged 37 MPG, 17 PPG on 52%, 10.0 RBs, 2.6 ASST, 0.2 STLS, 1.0 BLKS

Toss up. Virtually the same player. Aldridge if you're still building a team for the future. Gasol if the team is more ready to compete. Gasol might be soft, but so is Aldridge. Aldridge takes more midrange jumpers than the average guard. Both very good players. Neither is a star.

I only scoffed him while he was at UT. Every player in the Big 12 deserves scoffing. Now that he's a Blazer he's clearly an NBA All Star talent.

Even if Aldridge was no good, Pau's the biggest suck that's ever sucked. He's the same as Boozer- a no effort coward who melts against good defense.

Did anyone see the screen roll play with Kobe earlier where he barely went to the hoop and Kobe's great no look sailed out of bounds? A microcosm of Pau Gasol in that one play; he's a no-effort puss.

If I were Kobe I'd knock him out after the series is over.

Right now Gasol is much better. Gasol is soft but Aldridge is even softer. Down the line Aldridge could become the better player however Gasol is pretty damn good. Gasol has long arms, big hands and can catch anything. If the Lakers can de-Grizzlify him, Gasol should be able to be a top ten big in the game for a long time.

For the Blazers, Aldridge is the better piece because he'll gladly stay out of the paint and fits very nicely next to Oden. Starting a new team? Gasol.
