The Spurs' season is now over, much to the chagrin of all NBA fans who wanted nothing more than to see the NBA’s most exciting team back in the Finals.

The focus for the San Antonio Spurs must now turn to some serious off-season issues that begin with whether or not to rebuild for the 2008-09 season with a younger, more handsome team.

However, no issue is more important than the Bruce Bowen/Huckleberry Hound feud that many Spurs' fans are calling the distraction that cost the Spurs a title in 2008.

Who came first? Huckleberry Hound or Bruce Bowen?

That is the million dollar question, or to be specific, the 400-million dollar question.

Misunderstood San Antonio Spurs ' guard/forward Bruce Bowen is currently involved in a brutal lawsuit over the marketing of Huckleberry Hound, the lovable blue Hanna-Barbara cartoon dog who still captures the hearts and imaginations of children and junior college students around the world.

According to Bowen’s lawyer Saul Mando Bowen is entitled to a portion of any revenues the Hanna-Barbara Corporation earns based on the Huckleberry Hound character.

“What we are dealing with here is an obvious violation of copyright law," said Mando. "We have undeniable evidence that the Huckleberry Hound character was created to look exactly like my client Mr. Bowen. If they believe that merely coloring an illustration of Mr. Bowen blue makes it their own property, they obviously haven’t done their copyright homework.”

The lawyer representing Hanna-Barbara Mr. S. Nagelpuss was unable for comment; however, sources close to the group made it clear that they were not about to back down to what they referred to as a frivolous lawsuit.

If Bowen manages to win this case, it could open the door for all types of lawsuits involving cartoon characters resembling NBA athletes. It is already being reported that Reggie Miller has already gone to court over the Skeletor character depicted in the “He-Man Masters of the Universe” cartoons of the 80s.

Does Bowen have a case?

If anybody was going to sue Huckleberry Hound, it would have been Roy Williams (the basketball coach, not the WR or Safety) a long time ago.

Isn't humor one of the requirements of satire?

Apparently not...

This story so badly lacks humor that it's almost believable...
