The other day someone stole 4,000 galons of diesel fuel from a gas station out here. We have had people setting fires to gas stations, bomb scares...my coworker was telling me it feels like rationing days again, with the lines etc.

Don't worry, the more it keeps going up, the more you are going to hear about this sort of stuff happening.

nah thats just people being hostile cuz of the prices.

I cant complain tho even with the high ass prices its only taking me $40 to fill up. (Side comment LOL at only $40). Still pretty affordable for me. I feel for people who have to use higher grade gasolines, and people who have SUV's.

$4.59 here in Phoenix.
Why in the first place are we having these ridiculous gas price increases? Is this still because of the mortgage crisis here in the USA or is there like a rogue country trying to start a war again and bumping up their oil consumption by producing weapons?

There are many issues casusing the uber high oil prices right now.

1. Supply and demand, there is plenty of oil in the earth but getting it out fast enough is currently an issue.
2. China's booming economy, we wanted all of those fancy wal mart items at low low prices and now we are paying the piper because we have created a monster and created a monsterous boom in China's overall economy. Everything is made in China, anything plastic (most items from China) uses petroleum to make plastic. China's citizens are starting to drive cars instead of horses.
3. India's semi booming economy. India's citizens are starting to drive more and more cars as more and more people can afford them thanks to all of our outsourcing.
4. Weak Dollar
5. Fatcat politicians that don't give a damn.
6. The Bush's are an oil family duh...

Yeah, it's a little ridiculous. I was paying for gas/lpg at around 0.60c AUS/litre - which is a bit more managable... and then the company that supplies 30% of Western Australias gas supply went and blew up the pipeline. Hooray lpg prices most likely going up too!

:downspin:

But with the insane house prices and interest rates here, i had to get rid of my brumby and downgrade to a Koala.

But the USA and mostly the rest of the world started to cut back on oil so that would offset/balance what china and india' consumption right? I still think its the taxation for the import of oil that's fucking up the gas prices. Drilling for oil is not an option coz it will take time and money for infrastructures. Only way to go is develop fuel cells and hydrogen powered cars faster.
