All year. Best defense, best team.

I felt they would win the championship even before the playoffs began.

Big three got all the pub, but when they added James Posey, Eddie House, and Big Baby and then the emergence of Rondo beyond a defense-first PG...those role players were key to what made them great. Adding PJ Brown and Sam Cassell was just genius late in the season. Sam didn't help them as much in the playoffs as PJ Brown did....but if the Celtics had met the Spurs instead of the Lakers, I feel sure that Sam's impact would have been felt even more in that matchup.

Yep.

They combined a few All-star level players and surrounded them with a ton of tough, team-minded guys who love to play hard-nosed defense.

...

Where have I heard that before....

Boston is just a great team…The reserves come off the bench & they are bigger and more physical than the starters…Their defense is swarming…

I was goin for the lakers but big ups to Boston...

I'm especially happy for Pierce. Dude has mad heart...their bench players proved to be the best bench in the league this season. Lakers bench just didn't seem like they were playin a closeout game. Don't know what happened there.

You did not just forget Leon Powe. The guy can be a beasty role player that can give you 20/10 on a night.

Someone else who recognizes how much of a factor Rondo was. At the beginning of the season I thought that the Celtics were going to be a strong playoff contender, but the PG spot would be their undoing. Rondo was the X factor that allowed it all to come together for them. Yes the bench was big, but Rondos performances were stellar compared to what most thought they would be.

Congrats.

Watching them struggle against the Hawks, I admit I didn't think the Celtics would get by the Pistons - despite their fabulous regular season record. However they really found themselves and hit their stride as they went deeper in the playoffs.

Congrats to the C's.

once they got Posey I knew they would be contenders. That guy posey is one of those pieces that complete championship teams. I'd compare him to Horry of old.

As it stands right now, I really don't see who can beat the C's next year; If they keep this team intact and no major moves are made around the league.

I love Posey. The Spurs need to pick up someone of his caliber.

I agree.

They were the best team, but I still feel Manu's injury prevented us from seeing the two true best teams in the NBA from playing. Theres no question a healthy Ginobili makes the Spurs the best team in the western conference.

I think once Ray Allen got out of his shooting slump, the Celtics were an entirely different team than the one that played in the first two playoff series. Unfortunately, that was against the Pistons. Plus, a lot of different role players came up big in different situations of different games.

Great team. No question about it. They were very much deserving champions despite what people think of some of their players. I personally don't like Paul Pierce very much, but he certainly played like the Truth in big games.

Big ups to the Celtics. I hate it, but they deserved it.

Fuck Boston

All you whiners have your panties in a bunch over the Lakers getting Pau Gasol, yet say nothing about Kevin Garnett for Al Jefferson and Ray Allen for Jeff Green?

Give me a break, those trades were ridiculous and with the game 2 fix, Boston is one of the most undeserving champions since the Miami Heat.

Al Jefferson and Theo Ratliff's expiring contract to go with Gerald Green, Sebastian Telfair and Ryan Gomes.

Al Jefferson is a pretty fucking good player who has shown he has all the tools to be a star in this league. Celts had to give up some good players to land KG. Lakers gave up much less to land Gasol but so be it. Mchale helped us just like West helped your team.

Do yourself a favor and stop being a bitter sore loser. Accept the fact that your team just wasnt good enough this season. Things will be so much easier for you.:toast

Boston is one of the most undeserving champions since the Miami Heat.

There has only be one other championship team since the Miami Heat.

Boston would be "one of" the most undeserving and "one of" the most deserving seeing how there have only been two champions since the Miami Heat.

What about the game 4 fix? I mean Lakers go up by 24, and the refs put a remote chip in the ball controlling which shots they make. Talk about a serious screwjob. I thought I saw someone behind Mike Breen with a handheld device. Fucking conspiracy!:bang

Well the Pau Gasol trade wasn't as great a gift as everyone thought it would be.

I hated the KG and Ray Allen trade...but last night's performance was an effort from not only KG, Allen, and Pierce but their bench also...I think each member of their stupid team stepped up when it was needed.

I also compared them to the Heat as a fluke team...but like I did with Miami, I will give them the benefit of the doubt. If they stay on their game next season, then they got my respect. Miami didn't do SHIT after their championship, so fluke is proper.

Considering the Lakers lack of effort in the entire 4th quarter, you have to ask yourself, “why didn’t they just lose at home & save everyone the trouble of game 6”…

It was like watching an Indy Race, where a driver has no chance of winning…So he just hangs out & lets the other guys pass him…

Yea whatever... Boston was good all year, played the best D, and whipped the shit out of Lakers including Kobe last night. They looked like they were playing a bunch of scrubs from the Y last night. Valid win, valid championship.

Us Spurs fans could only wonder what if Manu was 100%? What if our bench gave us a little more... who knows what could of happened. The way the Celtics played last night it would have not been easy, that's for sure. We would have played better D than the Lakers did that's for sure... They Lakers played no D whatsoever, looks like they had no defensive strategy at all.. Oh well F* the Lakers anyhow, thats what those cocky bastards get. Their fans included.

that wasnt boston....that was boston, minnesota and seattle put together in one season.....look at the rest of the teams in this years playoffs and ask yourself, which big 3's on each team has been on that team since day one? since they were drafted?.....championships Can be bought within a one nba season...but that wasnt bostons team...many teams are trying and now buying championships, its seems the perfect way todo it when you get very, very, smart wealthy old and used up with their old clubs, yet still have enough to add with a couple of more alltime allstars put next to your side(and money doesnt matter cos you already outgrew that)..it doesnt take much science to understand anytime you put 3 alltime allstars together for a complete season the odds are very good you can win it all...but still it wasnt boston..it was boston, minnesota and seattle.......go spurs go

Hard to play with great effort when you start the fourth quarter 29 points down.

Have to question their effort the entire game after the first quarter, not just the fourth quarter.

But I imagine, they didn't plan to get blown out by 40 points in an elimination game. The Celtics played that well.

I still say there is a lack of teamanship and commrodity on Boston...so yeah. what this dude said.

But they won. Were the better team in this year's Finals. let's put this shit behind us and hope the Spurs have a game plan for 2009 :flag::flag::flag:

I'm gonna have to say I noticed the lack of effort and/or heart and/or aggressiveness in the 2nd quarter. But in regards to what JamStone said...the Lakers may have well just have lost at home instead of flying their asses to the other side of the country for a disgracing loss!

Again, you don't go into game 6 expecting to get blown out by 40 points.

That's like saying the Spurs should have just lost game 3 in the Lakers series so they wouldn't have to fly to LA for game 5.

Revisionist bullshit.

True that. I just expected more from them...Celts played like it was a closeout game and LA didn't.

As Pierce said during half-time....they wanted it more.

I don't like the Celtics, mainly because I can't stand KG and Ray Allen is the most whiniest, girly player I have ever seen. I mean spending 17 minutes in the locker room after getting poked in the eye and scatched on the nose in a Game 6 of the NBA FINALS?! Really?!

Regardless, I was very, very impressed with the Celtics, particularly Doc Rivers' coaching and the Celtics overall defense.

The person though that sort of won me over in these Finals though, was Paul Pierce. I always thought of him as a cocky, arrogant player..similiar to Kobe. But watching in these Finals and most of the postseason, I was really impressed with his leadership and ability to keep cool under pressure. And he was the best player on a court which featured 1 former and 1 current league MVP. That's saying a lot. :tu

But :pctoss KG and Ray Allen getting a ring. :depressed
