I just noticed this morning an interesting trend in the NBA:

Since 2006, we've had six different NBA teams in each Finals.

2008 - Lakers, Celtics
2007 - Spurs, Cavs
2006 - Mavs, Heat

If you go back a couple more years:
2005 - Spurs, Pistons
2004 - Lakers, Pistons
2003 - Spurs, Nets

The only 3 teams to have repeat appearances are the Spurs, Pistons, and the Lakers. The Spurs have been 3 times, the Lakers and Pistons twice each.

That actually seems like a lot of variety, which suggests how much parity the league has between teams. Esp to have 6 different teams in the Finals in the last 3 years. Very interesting, I think.

Yeah, but we usually get the same teams winning it all. The only NEW champion was the Heat......otherwise its been the Spurs, Pistons, Lakers, Celtics..............all multiple winners.

Go back even further, since 1980 it's been the Lakers, Celtics, Pistons, Bulls, Rockets, and Spurs winning multiple titles, with the 83 Sixers and the 06 Heat being the only one-and-done teams.

Doing a little research...I had never noticed that about the pattern since 1980 - esp interesting since prior to that we had the Sonics, Blazers, Warriors, and the Bucks all champs within a 2 years of each other. And then suddenly - no one else can rise to the top other than the same 6 teams, other than the 83 76ers and the 06 Heat.
