The Phoenix Suns have put Leandro Barbosa and Boris Diaw on the table in attempts to either move up in the draft or secure another veteran to play alongside Steve Nash, Amare Stoudemire and Shaquille O'Neal.

"I think our needs are pretty clear," one Suns insider told ESPN.com. "We can't ask Grant Hill to play 40 minutes a night, and Barbosa isn't really a point guard."

The Suns own the Atlanta Hawks' pick at No. 15, but the players they covet in the draft -- Russell Westbrook, Joe Alexander and Brandon Rush -- probably will be lottery picks.

Kerr needs to keep both of these players and pray to God you can find a center who can play half the game for Shaq.

Diaw and Parker are best friends, so maybe it would motivate diaw to be in better shape at start of seasoon

can we at least try to make a run @ Diaw? He was a big help to Phoenix when Amare was injured 2 season ago, we cannot just forget how they beat LA in the playoffs that yr. with no Amare.

...and Diaw murdered us in the 3 position with his post play. He is a very good project for chip to and pop to work on.

For real. I had him on my fantasy team and I watched the Suns that year and I'll consequently never forget just how good he was. I'm no Spurs fan, but if you guys could manage to get him and keep a fire lit under his ass he'd be a really, really good pickup... But it's a big if, keeping him motivated.

Diaw and Barbosa is way too much to give up for Russell Westbrook... especially when the Suns window of opportunity is 1 year max.

:toast

Diaw is a great all around player i will love him as a Spurs he can do every thing on the floor with his hight BB IQ....sometimes a little lazy he needs to be more aggressive .....if there's a way to get him Spurs must try.

I've lost all faith in those who make the decisions for this team. I'm not saying every one has been bad, but so many are, and so many aren't made for on-court reasons, that any good move gets burried beneath a heap of "WTF?!" type rage towards the other moves.

At this point, who the hell knows how this move can go?

Latest rumor is Diaw to the Raptors for TJ Ford and the 17th pick.

I would do that.

Ford for 20 minutes is quality to backup Nash, each to benefit from lesser roles and the 17th allows them to use 15 on the best talent available, knowing that if it's a big man, they can take a wing at 17.

If they could turn Diaw into Ford and a player like Arthur I'd be pretty happy.

Even if the Spurs wanted Diaw, what could they trade for him that Phoenix would want?

And given the ... lack of love ... between the two orgs the Suns aren't go to do SA any favors. Now, the SA FO has shown that it IS dumb enough to do favors for a rival, but again there's not anything reasonable in the SA cupboard that the Suns would want.

doesnt diaw have a max or near max contract? i'd take him on a smaller contract, otherwise his performance doesnt justify the money.

TJ Ford is loyalty here in Austin, but isn't he one of those injured players that is never the same?

Me neither. Diaw seemed to rediscover how dominant he could be in that series against the Spurs.

the ownership, both past and current, have pretty much screwed the team.

At the expense of Amare, as always. They hardly ever both play well in the same game.
