He says "it's all for charity" but he still gets to gamble. Players are asked to donate at least half of their winnings, he says he'll donate it all if he wins.
But he still gets to gamble.

He should have laid low a while more after the fallout.

Not a good move. I think he's got a problem if he rationalized this somehow with his situation.
