As far as Bryant is concerned, none of us knows the whole truth, and we're not about to. At least not from him.

"It's called moving forward, bro," Bryant declares. "That's what I'm doing. Life is so beautiful right now."

Perhaps Bryant won't look back because he doesn't have to. His plan is to let his game make the only historical statement that matters.

"He should," said Shaquille O'Neal, reaching out to offer a few words about Bryant this past weekend. "He's been great all year. He was great in the playoffs and he's showing everyone what he's made of. He's on the verge of being the latest great one with four rings.

"He's come a long way. All I can say is, I'm happy for him. And I'm proud of him."

Either way he shouldn't have snitched on Shaq. Even if Kobe disliked Shaq he should have enough respect to not snitch on someone who helped him win championships. Don't get me wrong Im not a Kobe Hater or anything but if he snitched on me like that I would also have a hard time getting over it.

Kobe was a bitch for narc-ing on Shaq, but I thought this was water under the bridge. I guess not, oh, well, I guess Shaq couldn't do it without Shaq of 00-03 either......

Now, I love a good feud, but you wait until the guys gets into a final when you couldn't lead your team with Amare and Nash past the first round and oh, that's 2 first round exits in a row I might add......Please, I love Shaq and what he did as a Laker when he was motivated, but give it up.

O'Neal issued the following statement: "I was freestyling. That's all. It was all done in fun. Nothing serious whatsoever. That is what MC's do. They freestyle when called upon. I'm totally cool with Kobe. No issue at all. And by the way, don't forget, six albums, two platinum, two gold. Anybody who knows me knows I'm a funny freestyler. Check the NBA DVD when I was wrapping about Vlade Divac during my first championship run. Please tell everybody don't make something out of nothing."

Does Shaq really think he'd have his three Laker rings without Kobe? What about riding D-Wade's coattails in 06? I've always hated Snaq. And this little "rap" just proves once again that he is void of any character. He's a fucking prick and if he was torn apart by a pack of wild hyenas tomorrow, I wouldn't bat an eye.

Kobe was still a superstar, not a role player. Teams can have 2-3 superstars you know.

I do think some spurs fans are wayyyyy overly obsessive with dissing Kobe. And quite a few spurs fans here are simply just insecure about their team or something. Not sure what, or why because the Spurs have won 4 titles in the past 9 years, so its quite childish to sit around and just take cheap shots at the opponents of the spurs for no reason. I mean I can understand sometimes joking or taking a jab, as i make fun of Shaq (whom i have a disdain for) from time to time, but not quite like spurs fans who make a new thread bashing Kobe every other day, or bashing Dirk every other day like they did back when the Spurs lost to the Mavs. It's ridiculous to sit around and talk shit every day about someone just because they beat your favorite team. Just accept the loss, and move the hell on.

its funny from time to time, but when 10 threads a day are created just because some fans have hard feelings about their team getting beat in the playoffs, thats ridiculous. there has always been some Kobe hate here, but ever since the Lakers beat the Spurs, its been absolutely insane. back when the Mavs beat the Spurs, there was endless shit talking about Dirk, whereas now, 2 years later, virtually all spurs fans have nothing but respect and good things to say about him (and a several of them were the same fans that would create 400 stupid-ass threads talking shit about him, kinda like the threads being created nowadays about Kobe)

as soon as the Hornets took that 3-1 lead earlier in the playoffs, there was constant shit talking about Chris Paul, whereas now, you dont see a single word being said about him. virtually every game that the Spurs lose during the season, there is a thread or two made about some player that maybe committed a hard foul, or was trash talking in the game, and about how he deserves a suspension, or threads taking shots at their personal lives, or some stupid shit like that. to me, its as if some spurs fans take it personally when someone talks shit to their team, or if their team loses. i hate it when fans do that, period, of any team including mavs fans whom ive seen do it in this forum as well.

i do agree with you that i dont like hypocrites or flip-flopers but if you dont like somebody then what can you do about it. you mean to tell me that if your team plays the Spurs you dont get up off your couch and say curse words at Duncan, parker or ginobili or Bowen? please, everyone does it. it just so happens here at ST we like to express our thoughts on the internet. Im sorry bro, but Kobe deserves all that he gets coming to him. hes a liar and a cheat. how can you defend that?

and as for Dirk. we just didnt like when he used to make shots and stick his stupid tongue out like a retard. also when he made a 3 pointer one time and he started stomping around like a gorilla afterwards. stuff like that deserves to be mocked and laughed at.

I still don't understand where this anti-truth montra/culture comes from. A lot of bad things have happened because people didn't 'snitch'.
Far more good things have come from transparency.

We're talking about a mans marriage, not a murder or drug selling that may deteriorate communities. (Let alone we don't "Snitch" on those who allow import the drugs themselves, or allow the import of it.) We're talking about childrens lives, we're talking about something far more important here. So, in regards to your critique of my statement, there's my rebuttle.

Shaquille O'Neal will lose his special deputy's badge in Maricopa County because of language he used in a rap video that mocks former teammate Kobe Bryant.

Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio said the Phoenix Suns center's use of a racially derogatory word and other foul language left him no choice. Arpaio made Shaq a special deputy in January and promoted him to colonel of his largely ceremonial posse earlier this month.

"I want his two badges back," Arpaio told The Associated Press on Tuesday. "Because if any one of my deputies did something like this, they're fired. I don't condone this type of racial conduct."

Shaq was seen in a video posted on the celebrity news and gossip Web site TMZ.com rapping that "Kobe couldn't do without me." O'Neal skewers the Lakers' star, with whom he won three straight NBA titles from 2000-2002 while with Los Angeles, for not being able to win a championship without him.

"I was freestyling. That's all. It was all done in fun. Nothing serious whatsoever," O'Neal told ESPN.com Monday. A call to the Suns on Tuesday seeking comment from O'Neal was referred to his public relations firm, which didn't immediately respond.

Arpaio, who describes himself as "America's Toughest Sheriff" and is best known for feeding jail inmates green bologna, clothing them in pink underwear, and making them work on chain gangs, said he didn't expect his actions would teach Shaq a lesson. But he hoped he learns that as a role model who wants to someday be a full-time sheriff, he needs to know his words matter.

"Maybe I'm old fashioned, but I don't think that either conduct should be out there publicly, even if media wasn't there," Arpaio said.

O'Neal previously served as a reserve officer with the Miami Beach Police Department while playing for the Miami Heat. He also volunteered with the Tempe Police Department after being traded to the Suns in February .

http://www.syracuse.com/poliquin/index.ssf/2008/06/after_his_rapping_of_kobe_shaq.html

After his crude rapping of Kobe, Shaq proved he has class, all right -- steerage
by Bud Poliquin

Syracuse, N.Y. -- During his class-challenged rap session the other night down in New York City, Shaquille O'Neal repeated over and over and over again: "Kobe, tell me how my (butt) tastes."

Now, as musical refrains go, that bit of nonsense wasn't exactly, "The answer is blowing in the wind." But Shaq did rhetorically ask about the flavor of his hindquarters, and as it would be impolite to ignore the big man, among the many potential answers would have been this one:

Shaq's ever-widening bottom has the tang of whatever sofa he's been sitting on since his Phoenix Suns -- the club he was supposed to have led to the NBA championship this month -- were eliminated in the first round of the league playoffs back in April.

Let's see. O'Neal's Suns go out so very meekly in the first round to the San Antonio Spurs in five games, and later those same Spurs are tossed, after just five games, through the doors of the Western Conference finals by Kobe Bryant's Los Angeles Lakers. And Shaq is busting Kobe's chops? This, after Bryant's club won 14 postseason affairs and O'Neal's bunch won one?

Seems as if Shaq, 36 going on 13, is as foolish as he is crude. And The Diesel is crude enough to have used during his ill-advised performance the infamous "N" word to describe Bryant and the very-nearly-as-insulting "B" word to smear a woman, in addition to inquiring again and again about the savoriness of his very own keister. Heck, he even oddly taunted the reasoned and educated Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, a basketball colossus who, in his prime, would have toyed with Shaq. Completely and utterly.

Certainly, I'm not the most dignified guy, myself. But I do know a little bit about etiquette. And it's my guess that Shaquille O'Neal -- the self-appointed Big Aristotle who apparently thinks racial slurs and sexist smears and scatological humor make for get-up-there-on-stage-and-let-it-rip entertainment -- has scratched himself on more than one occasion with his salad fork.

The "N" word? The "B" word? "Tell me how my (butt) tastes?" All spoken by one of America's most prominent athletes . . . and all to the huzzahs of the shameless patrons in that New York City house?

Somewhere, Arthur Ashe sighs.

Umm... each of them in their primes? I think about the only thing that Kareem would be able to do against Shaq is his sky hook. He's definitley not moving him around or anything like that, and will likely be getting in massive amounts of foul trouble trying to combat his strength, whereas Shaq could push him around with his left pinky.

One on one, Shaq would absolutely murder Kareem. Kareem might have been one of the most skilled big-men ever, and that Sky Hook is amazing, but dunks are still a much higher percentage shot, so I'll go with the guy who will be slamming them home on Kareem all day. Kareem's strength might possibly rival that of Shawn Bradley's.

Depends on how the game is called. We still don't know what a charge actually constitutes. If a charge is "dislodging a defender from a set position", then Shaq would foul out in about 5 minutes against Jabbar.

If they play by the rules of this early decade, Shaq would destroy everyone who's ever played the game. And why wouldn't he? He's bigger and stronger. That doesn't make him a good basketball player, just someone who could knock players over/into the 3rd row, dunk the ball, and get an and-1 called whenever the officials actually blew a whistle.

Basketball is about skill. Shaq had some, but if was 6'5", he wouldn't have been able to make a D-I college basketball team. His entire game consists of 4 feet in.

I agree that Shaq is not a very skilled player, and that Kareem is far more skilled. But basketball is an ATHLETIC sport, thus requires athletic gifts just as much as skill, if not more. Notice in the NBA, there are far more people that are athletic out of this world that have no talent, as opposed to people with loads of talent but are slow as molasses.

How is being over 7 feet tall and (WAY) over 300 pounds athletic? Again, if it were predicated on athleticism, Shaq would not have even played for any team in the league in the past 3 years. Being able to knock over the person next to you isn't athletic. Hell if you want that, why don't some teams start sumo wrestlers at center? They would probably run the court as well as Shaq.

Just because he doesn't run fast, or jump super high doesn't mean he didn't have any athletic advantages. Strength has to do with athleticism too, and he had LOTS of strength (obviously).

And for him to be widely considered the most dominant center ever, obviously he has more skill and athleticism than you give him credit for.

I hate Shaq probably even more than you, but the dude in his prime was a fucking beast, and if he had a better work ethic/attitude and learned how to shoot free-throws, he would likely be the greatest player in NBA history, and hands down the most dominant.

Shaq in his prime would pretty much obliterate every Center who has ever played the game outside of Hakeem Olajuwon. He straight owned Shaq.

Shaq in his prime was incredibly athletic. He was a combo of athleticism, size, & strength that the NBA has never seen. Not Wilt, not Dwight Howard, nobody else had the athletic/size/strength combo that Shaq had in his prime. His skills outside of the post were minimal, but you don't need it when you dominate from 4 feet in. You don't dominate the NBA being a tall fat guy, or else Oliver Miller would have been an all-time great.

Sure he's not looking so hot now, but now he's old. Let's see how good Tim Duncan is when he's 36.

I'm suprised Shaq had the courage to show his face in public after all his shit talking only lead to a 1st round demolition...

I havent seen shaq win any rings without a all-star guard. Wade basically carried his team in 06', Shaq didnt do shit.

looks like your favorite rappers are taking sides as well.

UPDATE: TMZ.com got a hold of Nas last night, as the rapper was seen coming out of a restaurant with R&B singer and wife Kelis.
"Shaq is my man, fuck Kobe," said the veteran emcee. "Shaq is my man, biggup to Shaq."
This isn't the first time Nas has had something to say about Kobe. In his song "These Are Our Heroes" [click to read] off off the album Street's Disciple, Nas criticizes Kobe:

"From OJ to Kobe, uh let's call him Tobe/First he played his life cool just like Michael/Now he rock ice too just like I do/Yo, you can't do better than that?/The hotel clerk who adjusts the bathroom mat?/Now you lose sponsorships that you thought had your back/Yeah, you beat the rap jiggaboo, fake nigga you/You turn around then you shit on Shaq/Who woulda knew, Mr. Goodie-Two-Shoes/He love a little butt crack, got enough cash/Little kids with they bus pass who look up to you/To do something for the youth, stupid spoof"

daaaaaaamn nas killed it. "Yo, you can't do better than that?/The hotel clerk who adjusts the bathroom mat?" :lmao

even snoop a die hard laker fan wants no part of kobe's corner.

Even Snoop Dogg calls the new Shaq/Kobe feud “beautiful,” hoping the fight would lead to a better rivalry on the court. Snoop, despite being a Lakers fan, said he wouldn’t write some comeback verses for Kobe because he “couldn’t disrespect Shaq.” He did offer to help find Kobe someone who would, however. Bryant, who made his own rap album that was supposedly so terrible it was buried for good, has yet to formally respond to O’Neal’s verses.

this shit is going to on and on and on and on.

I think Shaq would take Wilt. Not a complete beatdown, but gimme Shaq in that battle.

In fact, give me Shaq in his prime over Hakeem in his prime. Shaq got owned by Hakeem back when Shaq was still young and raw. In his prime, Shaq was smarter, stronger, a much better passer out of the post, and more polished. If Hakeem played that Shaq, I'd take Shaq.

1-on-1 i dont think any big-man ever could take Shaq. And I think the ones that have the best chance would be big-men who could also shoot well. Guys like Sabonis, Rasheed, Dirk, etc... but dunks are still a higher percentage, so I would have to go with Shaq in those still. But I think guys like those would have the best shot at beating him. If you are trying to outmuscle him, or beat him in the post, you will not win the battle.

We've already seen Shaq face Hakeem in the tail-end of his career (95 Finals where the Rockets wept the Magic 4-0). Shaq was thoroughly dominated by a smarter Hakeem who had his way with him.

Mono clearly hasn't watched basketball pre-Dirk Nowitzki.

and :lmao @ Hakeem being in the tail-end of his career in 95. He only posted his career high PPG average that year. He only played 7 more seasons after 95.
