View Full Version : Guess who the Spurs will draft - Win a prize

timvp

We've decided to up the stakes for 2008's version of guessing who the Spurs will pick in the NBA draft. If someone successfully predicts who the San Antonio will select with each of the Spurs' three draft picks, they will win this prize:

http://www.spursfanshop.com/prodimages/24/2007%20NBA%20Spurs%20Champion%20Commemorative%20Ph otomint-5022.jpg
Retail Value: $134.10

The prize will be shipped directly from the Spurs fan shop. If the winner can also instead opt for $100 cash.

The Spurs have the 26th, 45th and 57th picks in the 2008 NBA Draft. For each pick, you have to guess which player the Spurs will select. If you think they will trade a specific pick, you have to indicate to which conference the Spurs will trade the pick. For example, if you think the Spurs will trade the pick to the Suns, you'd say Western Conference. If you think it'll be the Cavaliers, say the Eastern Conference.

Predictions are accepted until June 25th at 11:59PM CST. You can go back and edit your selection until that time as well. Any new predictions or new edits will be discarded after that time.

For reference purposes, check out the SpursTalk prospect directory (http://spurstalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=98004), NBADraft.net's mock draft (http://72.167.32.125/mocks/2008_nba_mock_draft.html) and DraftExpress.com's mock draft (http://www.draftexpress.com/nba-mock-draft/2008/).

Good luck.

Would it be alright to PM you? I might have to use some of my inside sources to figure out what we are going to do, but I knew before hand that the Spurs were going to draft Tiago, and M. Williams. Before hand for me was at pick 9 in last years draft when I was told that Tiago amd Williams were the Spurs' picks unless taken before. That kind of sucked because I had been asking my source all week, and he didn't tell me straight up until the 9th pick. All I knew was a big man in the first and a wing in the second until the draft had actually started. My guesses were Big Baby Davis with 28, and Alando Tucker at 32. I was pretty worng. I wanted Big Baby though, he really worked hard to drop from 290 to 245 before the draft, only to gain it back after.

I already failed. This will be the first contest I ever seen where nobody wins.

Sonny Weems had the fastest 3/4 court sprint time & 2nd fastest lane agility time, according to draftexpress.com. He's probably the quickest guy in the draft. Most people project him as a 2nd rounder-- what do you see that makes him a first round pick for you?

Later edit: I looked at those results again and I guess Weems' 3/4 court sprint time is the fastest time recorded in the last five years! Pretty amazing...

I think the two picks + something (cash, future picks, or trade exception) will be used to trade for a higher first-pick to make sure they land who they wanted, most likely a wing (Courtney Lee). A trade with the Magic or the Nets is a possibility.
