Both Draft Express and ESPN have posted articles in the last few days predicting that Anthony Randolph will be a draft bust. In other articles though, draft prognosticators have claimed that his athleticism is "off the charts." Using the numbers from Draft Express, I did a comparison...

No-step Vertical leap:

Michael Beasley: 30"
Kevin Love: 29.5"
Trent Plaisted: 30.5"
Anthony Randolph: 29"

Max. Verticle:

Beasley: 35"
Love: 35"
Plaisted: 35.5"
Randolph: 35"

Lane Agility:

Beasley: 11.06 seconds
Love: 11.17
Plaisted: 11.32
Randolph: 11.86

3/4 court sprint:

Beasley: 3.24 seconds
Love: 3.22
Plaisted: 3.17
Randolph: 3.26

So based on those things, it's more a more surprising fact that Kevin Love is about just as athletic as Michael Beasley.

I'll wait to hear what Hollinger has to say on it . . .

Yeah, I thought that was unexpected too. I didn't really know anything about Plaisted, but his numbers caught my eye when I was looking for another comparison with roughly the same height.
Ironically, after I posted this I drove to get dinner and Chad Ford was on ESPN radio talking about how Randolph has dropped to #16 in his latest mock draft, and how lots of teams are re-evaluating him....

It was probably Hollinger's extremely low rating for Randolph that got this whole thing started.

Another interesting fact: Love measured 12.9% body fat while Beasley was only 7.7%. It's hard to believe Love is so close to him in terms of athleticism.

Randolph suffers from the LSU curse. Every PF to come out of BR in the last decade has busted out. People are starting to note the trend. :lol
