They're arrogant. They should never have let Presti and Pritchard get away! They are now going to get PWNED by those guys.

The only real example of arrogance I can recall was drafting Mahinmi in the 1st round when nobody had him anywhere close to that position.

Pritchard wasn't offered the GM at Portland until he'd been there 2 years. They needed to promote these guys and phase themselves out. Tough to do, but it should have been done.

It takes great GM skill to land high draft picks.

No, it takes great GM skill to land multiple high picks and then pick players that become stars.

As much fun as it is to poke fun at tlongII he's absolutely right. POR has completely turned their franchise around and anyone who cannot see that they will be a frontrunner in a few short years is ignoring reality. What they need to stop doing is stockpiling those draft picks, it's time to make trades and bring in some veteran PROVEN talent. That's what they lacked last season.

no, it takes expiring contracts and tradeable players to land multiple high picks. GMs can't do anything without those.

The problem with the Spurs FO is they draft too many international players. Since 2002 how many international players have joined us and hung around and made a decent contribution?

They don't have multiple lottery picks every summer.

How can you not stop professional people from moving up the career ladder? It's all about business and head hunting.

Popovich has always allowed FO employees/coaches to do better for themselves. That's why good people come here as coaches or front office employees.

Quality people want to run their own show. That's just business. Probably of third of the teams in this league now have people in FO/coaching positions with direct Spurs ties.

This is a compliment to what a good job the Spurs have done since Popovich took over the team management.

Portland's owner has BILLIONs of dollars. He has a lot more money than Cuban. Portland can be aggressive in the way they do business because the owner can buy their way into draft picks or out of bad contracts.

It's not like Anderson completely sucks like Josh McRoberts.
