DETROIT -- Detroit Pistons center Detroit Pistons Zeljko Rebraca may need surgery to eliminate an irregular heartbeat that sidelined him for 49 games last season, according to the Detroit Free Press.

The 7-footer is expected to inform the Pistons this week whether he'll have the three-hour procedure. If he doesn't, the Pistons may want to discuss his future and the last year of his contract with Rebraca and his agent, Bill Duffy. Rebraca is scheduled to earn about $4.2 million next season.

Fearing another on-court occurrence or an uncertain role with the team if the problem persists, a source within the organization said the Pistons would like to have Rebraca's status resolved during the free-agent period. Detroit's management has been assured the procedure is not life-threatening.

Rebraca, 31, played in just 30 games last year and averaged 6.6 points and 3.3 rebounds.

Sounds like he might have Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome.
