What launch site do you guys recommend? I havent been in years and everytime I was with someone who launched from a different site. What rules for tubing are in place now?

No beer bongs, or fornicating in public. No styrofoam ice chest or glass bottles. No loud music, especially rap. No vulgar language or nudity. No public defecation or urination. You will be hauled to jail for public intoxication. There are cops at every crossing bridge.

City of New Braunfels Water Recreation Rules Comal and Guadalupe Rivers
No glass
No foam containers
No volume drinking devices
No containers under 5 fluid oz.
Noise devices may not be audible beyond 50 ft.
No jumping from bridges, dams, and trees
No littering
Maximum permitted cooler size is 16 qt.
Coolers must have a locking mechanism on the lid (zipper, Velcro, latch, cord)
One cooler per person
Vessels on the rivers may not be over 18 ft in length
Life jackets are recommended for children under eight and weak swimmers

Comal River
Inflatable floatation devices on the Comal River must be less than 5 ft. in diameter or width at the narrowest point
Limit of two tubes per person on the Comal River
Canoes and kayaks may not use the Last Tubers Exit on the Comal River on weekends and holidays

Guadalupe River Inside the City Limits of New Braunfels
When the river flow on the Guadalupe River is above 500cfs, it is mandatory for all children under eight years of age to wear a life jacket
When the river flow on the Guadalupe River is above 750cfs, it is mandatory for all individuals to wear a life jacket
When the river flow on the Guadalupe River is above 1000cfs, tubing is not allowed. The only allowed recreation is raft trips

River Entrance and Exit Rules
No open alcoholic containers allowed in River Acres Park, Last Tubers Exit, Cypress Bend Park, Hinman Island Park, and Prince Solms

They're different experiences, like you said. Schlitterbahn is a whole day adventure, up and moving and walking to ride after ride after ride. A trip down the river there is just another attraction. And it'll add up if you have a whole family, too. I mean, you can pack the coolers and everything too but there's the extra food and the shirts and the other crap too. On top, of the things you can buy at the mall.

The river, can add up, though, if it's a family affair. Food, tubes with bottoms, drinks, dinner on the way home, etc. But, if you just get a tube and some beers it's a lot cheaper. The river can be exciting, just depends on what you make it.

We tube the Comal at night...it's a fucking blast. No one to fuck around with, no big brother watching, it's awesome. We put in at around 9pm/10pm at Landa park, park a car where we get out near Schlitterbahn, and float till about 12/1am. Sometimes we're go down twice.

I went tubing there for about 3 yearss when I first moved down there. You have to ignore all the pissing that goes on in the river. That was tough but the beer and my pisssing made it easier. But then one day I saw a 40 something black women laughing hysterically climbing back in to her tube and one guy in her group started yelling " She shit in the river, she shit in the river" Of course a few feet away was her shit floating along. Everyone in ear shot jumped into the river and paddled as fast as they could around it. It was so disgusting.Last time I went tubbing anywhere.

That's just it...no one is there at night...you might see a few other late night tubers but that's rare....but there's definitely no authorities around and it's perfectly legal. The water is only cold until you get used to it...maybe the first 10 minutes or so but then it's all good. The only thing I wont do at night is the chute. Most of my group goes and nothing has ever happened, I just won't do it anymore. It really is a lot of fun...everyone we tell about it pusses out until they actually go and they end up having so much fun, that's the only way they'll go anymore. The hard part is actually getting people to go at night.
