The Spurs sent an e-mail to every team in the league at 3:30 p.m. saying that they were willing to move the 26th pick. The e-mail asked league executives to "E-mail us your interest and your offers to 26."

That's the first time I've heard of something like this in all of my years covering the draft.

I like it. As long as the Spurs have time to field the calls or emails with trade scenarios, it creates dialogue and might open up a few more alternatives than might have otherwise been there. It also might tell the Spurs how valuable that slot might be to the full field in a short period of time.

The Spurs don't have to do anything, but it might give them more insight and create more trade ideas.

arrange a trade with a team where we draft a player they want and then trade him.

This is quite stupid of RC. I've never heard of any team that has done this, but who knows. Maybe RC just started a new trend in the NBA on draft day.

I believe he meant the firesale of e-mailing every team in the league for offers.

Aren't the Spurs prohibited from trading the #1 without getting one back since the 2009 has been dealt?

OOps. Already asked. They can draft and trade the player for what they want.

It's probably nothing more than a smoke screen to make teams think they aren't interested in a player, probably Batum, when they're actually locked in on him.

Fucking Spurs better draft someone in the first.

Then its time to re assess.

Exactly what I meant. I'm not too worried about tonight.

I actually don't expect them to draft an NBA ready player. I think they probably have someone in mind to grab during FA. I'll just wait it out and see what happens.:toast

Don't get your hopes up too high folks. Tonight's events might be better, and less frustrating, if viewed on the DVR...after watching a good movie.I'll be fine with any outcome other than selling the pick for less than $3M or drafting Nathan Jawai in the first round. Also wouldn't really like it if the Spurs traded it for a super protected pick.

But really, the draft is just gravy. The turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce and pumpkin pie will be served during free agency.

You're right. We're going to have Tim Duncan in his prime for another 10-12 years.

Last year the Spurs took the young swingman prospect with lots of upside yadda yadda and he didn't make it to opening night. Had the Spurs passed on him the board would've melted down.

There is no point in us guessing, no one knows, we all have about 1,000,001 opinions, but nothing for sure. So just sit back and get ya popcorn ready...

I'd hate to see them sell the pick but won't have a meltdown either.

If they sell it then one has to wonder if they'll skip the draft entirely. Maybe keep the 45th pick but no way they look too hard with the 57th pick.
