  1. Dude, check out Republic Pass sometime. It's only about 9 miles or so, so it's an easy dayhike out of Cooke City, though you gotta scramble up to the pass as the trail becomes really hard to find not too far past when you get out of treeline. I wouldn't recommend it before late August either, since you scramble up a north facing slope that's likely to have ice any time before then. On a clear day from there you can easily see both Grand Teton and Granite Peak, and I saw not a single person on it when I was hiking it. I think Pilot Peak should be visible from there too, though I can't remember. I still want to get back to the area and do the Aero Lakes + Sky Top Lakes as a backpack and Mount Rearguard as a dayhike sometime, since weather ran me off both of them last time.
  2. LOL I remember when I went to Yellowstone a few years ago and I was eating lunch on the porch of the Beartooth Cafe in Cooke City and talking to someone of the right wing persuasion. Then a couple of British tourists came by and we all got to talking and the other guy says "Oh, you're British? I loved Thatcher!"

These 60+ year-old English tourists just got this extreme look of disgust on their faces almost immediately; I mean it was like someone just took a huge dump on their plate. One of them looked like was about to puke, no bullshit. I guess I just thought of that since you were the person who recommended I check out the Beartooths

I mean, it's a given all the young people hate that cun.t, but it was funny seeing baby boomer aged people with the exact same reaction.
  3. Prisoner X

In a painstaking investigation, this report amassed compelling evidence to finally uncover the identity of Prisoner X, sending shock-waves around the world when it broke the story. A unique insight to the case.

In early 2010 a man was escorted to arguably the most secure prison cell in Israel. The guards taking him there had no idea who he was or what he’d done.

“It is simply a person without a name and without an identity who is placed in complete and absolute isolation from the outside world. There is confidentiality surrounding the detainee in every respect” a prison official stated.

  4. 3D Printed Guns

People have figured out how to print a semi-automatic rifle from the comfort of their own home. Now they’re putting all the information online so that others will join them.

This is a story about the rapid evolution of a technology that has forced the American legal system to play catch up. Cody Wilson, a 25 year old University of Texas Law student, is an advocate for the open source production of firearms using 3D printing technology.

  5. DPRK: The Land of Whispers

North Korea lies somewhere between a 1930′s Soviet Union frozen in time and a dark, futuristic vision of society… as imagined back in the 70′s.

Land of Whispers invites you to visit arguably the most unique and isolated travel destination in the world – not to criticize, but to observe and listen.

Aside from usual highlights such as Pyongyang or Arirang, this unique one-man documentary brings you to areas such as Chongjin or Wonson, still virtually unknown to even Google or Wikipedia.

This is the original notorious documentary about porn star Annabel Chong, who achieved the first world record for taking the most sexual partners in one day.

  7. Mexican Drug Cartels vs. Mitt Romney's Mormon Family (Part 1/7)

The Mexican drug cartels are at war… with Mormons. VICE founder Shane Smith went down to Ciudad Juárez, near the US border, to investigate this bizarre story.

  9. Conventions 2012: The Price of the Party

he United States is in the midst of its most expensive election season ever. It is not what Washington pundits mean when they say that this year’s presidential race will be won or lost on the economy.

Nonetheless, almost $6bn will be spent trying to get Republican and Democratic candidates into office. Virtually unlimited cash can buy many things – hundreds of hours of television advertising, automated phone calls, a really big party.

But who is paying? And what is the price exacted of the country’s democracy? There are three months left until voting day.

And Sebastian Walker and the Fault Lines team travel from the Republican National Convention in Tampa, Florida to the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, North Carolina, to examine the spectacle being broadcast on US screens.

  10. 9/11: Intercepted

What happened on the morning of September 11, 2001? Why were US defenses ineffective? Pilots For 9/11 Truth analyze NORAD response, Audio recordings as well as Radar data provided by government agencies.

War Games, Simulated radar tracks, aircraft exceeding their max operating limits by more than 130-150 knots, inaccurate aircraft position reports, false aircraft target reports, aircraft converging – flying virtually in formation with – and then diverging from reported 9/11 aircraft, fighters launched in the wrong direction, aircraft seemingly still airborne after the alleged attack, poor communications, phones not working…
