Even with Lopez on board, there is a good chance that the Suns will keep one of their backup centers from last season — Sean Marks or Brian Skinner. The advantage would figure to side with Marks, a favorite of Kerr’s, a more economical choice and a player with more offensive game to balance the defense-first mentality of Lopez behind O’Neal.

Re: Free Agent: Brian Skinner
If Kurt Thomas can't be brought back, I'd give him a look. he seems decent.
-
Re: Free Agent: Brian Skinner
Oh yea, :lol @ Marks over Skinner.
-
Re: Free Agent: Brian Skinner
Always a good producer no matter how sporadic his minutes. I agree he's worth a look if Thomas isn't coming back.
-
Re: Free Agent: Brian Skinner
not in a million years...
-
Re: Free Agent: Brian Skinner
Make that a million and one. Skinner is awful.
-
Re: Free Agent: Brian Skinner
Ask Sun fan if they'd rather have had Thomas or Skinner last year. I'd rather play Ian 35 minutes.
-
Re: Free Agent: Brian Skinner
I liked him but I don't if he is still as good as some years ago.
If a mentally healthy GM choose Marks over you, you should badly suck.

The report says that Kerr chooses Marks over Skinner since Marks is offensive-minded and he wants to even it out with Lopez being defensive-minded.

Were not that desperate are we? He's a garbage man. He can stay with the run and done Suns.

Clippers Sign Brian Skinner
Jul 31, 2008 5:03 PM EST
The Los Angeles Clippers signed veteran forward Brian Skinner, Vice President of Basketball Operations announced today. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not announced. Originally drafted by the Clippers in the first round (22nd overall pick) of the 1998 NBA Draft, Skinner is a 10-year NBA veteran who returns to Los Angeles after playing 66 games last season with the Phoenix Suns. Skinner averaged 3.3 points, 3.6 rebounds and 0.2 assists for Phoenix in 2007-08. “Brian Skinner is a veteran NBA player who will give us both size and depth in the middle,” Baylor said. “We are familiar with Brian, and know that he will be a good fit in his return to the Clippers.”

:pctoss :pctoss
He would've been a good fit in SA.
-
Re: Free Agent: Brian Skinner
Eh, hes alright.
Nothing to throw a computer against the wall for.
-
Re: Free Agent: Brian Skinner
BTW,
Thomas came back, meaning the need for Skinner wasn't there.
Again, step off the ledge.

Re: Free Agent: Brian Skinner
When I was out of highschool working for Finish Line his family would go in there and buy tons of shoes and stuff from me. He is from the small town that I am from. Temple, TX.

Re: Free Agent: Brian Skinner

Re: Free Agent: Brian Skinner
Once the Spurs signed Tolliver, there wasn't much need for another big man. If they unload Bonner or Oberto, then we can talk about signing another one.

The subject of a great Seanism this past season: "If I looked in the mirror and saw that coming off my chin, I'd start shaving really fast."

Not logging in large minutes, just as the 10th/11th man or for insurance. Looking at the FA market, I don't see anyone that you could've liked more as the 4th/5th big than Skinner.

So pay a couple million dollars for a guy that would take a roster spot from Gist or Tolliver?
That makes sense....

Or the minimum, or just 1 million. Not necessarily two.

Re: Free Agent: Brian Skinner
Why not make it in the hundreds while we are at it?
-
Re: Free Agent: Brian Skinner
skinner would have been like horry
see very limited minutes
-
Re: Free Agent: Brian Skinner
Spurs still have 7 bigs with Duncan, Thomas, Oberto, Bonner, Mahinmi, Gist and Tolliver. (baring they sign Gist)
I don't see how they can add another one, even more if they want to develop their young players.
-
Re: Free Agent: Brian Skinner
lets sign 7 bigs
and forget the spurs have other spots to fill to

As Bruno stated, we already have 7 bigs.
-
Re: Free Agent: Brian Skinner
thank the Lord skinner did not come to the Spurs. He is really really bad
-
Re: Free Agent: Brian Skinner
Skinner was a good player and he tried really hard out there. I guess the Suns saw enough potential in Lopez to let him go. He was a fan favorite in Phoenix, but (surprise) he saw sporadic minutes under Mike D'Antoni and his confidence was shaken.

So what's the big man situation over in Phoenix?

End of the bench insurance for Thomas/Duncan. Skinner is a better defender than Oberto, Tolliver, or Bonner, and if one of those two go down, he can be counted on for low post D.

Hell no you can't find any worse Center in league tha Brian Skinner!..:nope

Re: Free Agent: Brian Skinner
He's gone. Clippers sign him. Who would thought Clippers gonna be strong? Not me. But this year, they will becoming threat to all Western powerhouse. Joking? Not really. They add Baron Davis and Marcus Camby and got 7th pick Gordon (this kid play damn good in NCAA ball). Rookie Al Thorton proved that he can play ball on both ends. They add Ricky Davis for bench scoring and add banger Skinner. Besides, they also got Mobley,Chris Kaman,Tim Thomas. Im not laughing...this is not a good sign for us.
Rockets add Artest, and they only lost rookie, old Bobby Jackson and maybe another unimportant player and God knows what else. THey got Yao,Tmac,Battier. With addition of Artest and our beloved Barry, they look perfect in paper. They might knock us out or at least will drain our Big 3 staminas in playoffs so when we move to the next round we can build a castle with "bricks" and see plain cold shooting show.
Who else got improved this offseason in the West? Certainly not the Spurs. Hornets add Posey and will become a legitimate threat to us. I like Roger Mason, he got bright future but I believed we could do more (not anymore). Spurs DIDNT NEED OVERHAUL,but we need additional scorers. Did FO learned any lesson in 2008? Manu needs help if he come from the bench (he will start nex season) because once one of Big 3 got problems/injured...2 stars will be overwhelmed. Point is that we need solid backup and we let Barry go as a result thinking that Mason will replace him. Dont we need to add instead of replace? Anyway there is no point talking when management didnt even give a shit. All of our predictions about draft also went straight to the toilet. I will always support Spurs although FO sucks like a whore pussy....GO GET ANOTHER RING

The Spurs roster this season doesn't have the luxury of carrying a dead weight like Bonner.
