Matt Bonner is making $2,978,000, he's not worth one penny of it. He should be traded as soon as possible. He can't do anything good.

matt booner is not overpaid
he is making a little over the min
he can bring donuts to the team he can do something good
3 million for the 12th or 13th man is not ideal.
It's not that bad and is not preventing us from signing anyone.
The prevention aspect is irrelavant, either one is overpaid or they are not. The fact that one has to semi cope with saying it isn't that bad should raise some concern. Nobody is perfect, but his salary is a bit unreasonable. With that being said, alot of contracts are unreasonable but that still doesn't change the facts.
spurs thought splitter would fit better next to duncan then scola
spurs were right
however splitter screwed the spurs
scola screwed the spurs more because he thought he was god and caused problems with the spurs front office
selfish asshole
12/17 was it?
The night of Bonner pwnage. Never forget.
Uhm, I believe Scola's contract is identical to that of Bonners. Spurs reached an agreement with Bonner the first couple of days in free agency, which was a mistake because of how watered-down free agency was last year. If spurs had waited it out they could have signed Bonner for much less. With reaching an agreement with Bonner so early, anyone else that would be signed would put us over the luxury tax. Therefore we signed Bonner instead of Scola.
scola thread!
NO the spurs did not
spurs wanted splitter over scola
spurs were going to sign splitter over scola
booner had nothing to do with that
Signing Bonner to a 3 year deal for the exact amount of money Scola wanted makes it obvious they wanted Bonner more than Scola. Signing Splitter or not.
"If"s are different than what is. All I see is where he's at now. Also, his perceived potential in my view isn't that slot on this team. Maybe around that number on a different rotation, just not on this team. To be honest, it may be a sad day in Spur basketball if he's seventh in the rotation.
The ginger is overpaid, Scola> Bonner end of story.
scola would not see that many minutes with the spurs since he plays the same spot as duncan
scola stats would be alot lower on the spurs then houston
and scola could not handle pop
scola got ticked rc told him to work on his rebounding
scola is a baby
Scola would have been fine as a Spur.
But so what?
I understand Scola was used to get Butler's contract off the books. But I dont understand how we resigned Bonner for 9-10 million over 3 years and how we couldn't figure out a way to bring Scola in silver and black when he asked for Bonner money.
Well there you go.Quote:

That decision was already made by the collective bargaining agreement.Quote:

this scola thing is discussed to death
do a search it has been discussed to death
MOVE ON
I'm sure Pop doesn't like personell decisions that are based solely on money.
....and it made him want to spit, not puke.
Bonner could step in and start for the Spurs in a pinch at the 4. To have that kind of insurance even if he isn't always in rhythm when he plays his bit minutes, is well worth the salary he is being paid. Bonner is not overpaid.
Well ducks is saying Scola wouldn't have fit and how he wouldn't find minutes, but Pop's quotes have said otherwise.
If only Bonner was 25% more athletic and had much quicker judgment on the court.
He CAN ball. We all saw that when they played the Warriors in December.
All in all our FO has made small piss poor decisions with Butler, Bonner, and Scola. That still isn't going to make or break the team. Duncan, Manu and Parkers health is the key. Adding Maggette/ Delfino and resigning Kurt would subside all this talk im sure.
No, it will never stop people's bitching here. They could sign LeBron for the minimum and folks would still complain about Matt Bonner.
Scola Thread!
Probably won't because giving Bonner 9-10 million is a joke.
obviously i would like to trade him too, but he really hasnt had a chance to really prove himself.
Bonner can be a 7 and 3 guy off the bench..........for a lottery team.
Not really, which my post count indicates.
4 percent or so now and its climbing. Perhaps I could break into 5 percent in the next 30 minutes. Regardless of my opinions on the ginger, his contract isn't going to prevent us from doing anything from here on out. Even though he is still overpaid in my view.
Matt Bonner is a good role player. How is a guy supposed to contribute when he gets no minutes. When he filled in for Duncan when TD was injured he did a decent job. At least he brings something to the table like his 3pt shooting and the ability to stretch the floor unlike Vaunghn who gets minutes still puts up garbage. Look what happend to Udrih when he got minutes at the Kings. If the Spurs arent going to play the Red Rocket then trade him. But he will be a handy player if gets minutes and Horry doesn't resign with our aging team.
trade him for Richard Donner. Maybe he can make some good Spurs films.
edited.....
...because Bonner's 3M is the reason they spurs lost to the lakers and should be a top priority
Spurs have bigger fish to fry
One thing I've never understood is the whole "Scola Thread!!!" business. Is it really that hard to admit that the Spurs FO really fucked one up badly? Does SpurFan really have Mohammed Saeed al-Sahaf Syndrome? Why can't SpurFan admit that this was a MAJOR fuck up?
Or, is there a serious willingness to argue that Matt Bonner is a better fit, at the price of his contract, than Luis Scola is. If there is such an argument, I'd love to hear it.
What can be accomplished? What can you or I accomplish?
All the people bitching about 3 years/9-10 mil are just as pathetic as those thinking Scola wouldn't have made this team better.
I don't understand what being delusional about an awful deal for the Spurs accomplishes ... so I'm open to suggestions. What does blind acceptance of the status quo accomplish?
Exactly. Now you're getting it.
Sure.Quote:

What does that mean? That would mean that nothing would change.Quote:

Things are changing as we speak.
I agree and Scola wasn't the only thing we fucked up.
Hell think back to Stephan Jackson and us offering him less than he was worth. It turned out alright as Manu developed and the money went to him.
I will never let the Scola thing go. SA fucked up bad. Holt is plenty rich enough he should have just made a deal.
SA clinging to their pockets has fucked us plenty of times but yet has been a blessing in disguise at times also.
:lol
Besides who here think Scola wouldn't have helped us and been a bigger upgrade anyways? I don't think that idiocy exists.
Now I'm getting what? Condescending much? That's a great way to get people to view things from your perspective.
I agree that complaining/bitching/moaning about the situation accomplishes absolutely nothing ... "changes" nothing about that situation. My point is only that the whole "Bonner for 9Mil/3years" is something the FO should and must be critiqued for.
Does it accomplish something? If your asking whether or not it does something like getting Corey Maggette to sign with us, obviously not. But is a healthy level of skepticism about FO decisions important? I think so. Does calling out Matt Bonner's deal do something, in that regard? I think so.
I really don't give that much of a shit about it.
Like I said, it's Chinatown. Every team has made moves like this and will do so in the future.Quote:

Nope. It doesn't do a damn thing.Quote:

Make him practice harder than anyone in Spurs, extra training on everything...give him more minutes and beat him up if he produce nothin...make him sacrifice his body and soul for us to get wins, if we still lost than beat him up in locker room and give ice to help him recover. That's will make his salary worth......
So basically, other spurs fans should keep quiet about the whole Scola thing because (1) you don't really give a shit about what they think and (2) you don't think it changes a damn thing?
I'm curious to ask: if a team makes a bade trade, like Manu for Richard Jefferson, do you not speak up, or get upset because "every team has made a move like that now, and in the future?" What an incredible amount of passion.
You can post all you like about it. I don't give a shit and it won't change a damn thing.
I say something, then get on with my life, except apparently to tell people to get on with theirs.Quote:

wow. an outside life? what's that like ... I've heard so much about it ...
:lol
i really dont know what happened to bonner....seems like one day he was there playing, hustling for boards, taking and making easy shots...then boom....bonner is missing, somewhere shining pop's pine...maybe cos he is smart he is valuable during practice sessions, cos other then that, no matter what he makes, he doesnt do much for us, and completely disappeared in the PO's....just another player who helps keeps minutes down during the season for other players im guessing...
Fuck Bonner
How can anyone not like the "Red Rocket"? I admit, there are times when seeing Bonner on the court makes me nervous, but the guy has never really got any decent playing time or a reliable spot in the rotation. He's a spot up shooter, rebounder, and a hustle player. That is what we brought him here for and that is his role. I think that there were some games this past year that he hit a couple of key shots that helped us win some games. I don't know what people expect of him anymore than what he has done?
wasn't bonner supposed to be the second coming of robert horry?
maybe if we got rid of horry now we can judge what bonner's worth.
