I understand why you took the money, I would probably too. 50 million dollars is hard to turn down. Best of Luck in Golden State where you will never reach the playoffs again. Bottom line is he got almost double the money per year. It could have been a hellhole like Cleveland or a wasteland like Utah and he still would have signed for $10 million per instead of $5.8 million per.
No brainer, winning is completely secondary to the money for NBA players 99.9% of the time. The .1% only applies when a player has made over $125 million in NBA contracts prior to the most recent signing.

The way these owners and GMs are willing to grossly overpay to outbid the next team, it was unrealistic to expect that Corey wouldn't receive an offer that exceeded the MLE that was initially being thrown at him.
