Re: Parker will play with French NT this summer
Well people... there is something you may not see.
Parker is going to be a top notch PG for years to come. And when his contract runs out he would surely have a hard time saying no to Spurs because they treat him so nicely.
Look at a player like Arenas. Wizards had to OVERPAY him because he has no loyalty whatsoever.
I dont think this is the cae with Parker.

Re: Parker will play with French NT this summer
Yeah even the toughest of men, sooner or later, have to get away from their wonderful wives. The only thing he coulda left out of this article was......our loss against the lakers. He coulda used better words imo. Maybe Kori should send him a hint to polish up his typing as well. It worked for me.

Re: Parker will play with French NT this summer
The team is playing so poorly that they need Tony just so they can qualify to play in the next Eurobasket? Ouch.
Just to make Spurs fans even more upset, let me tell you. Some of these qualifying games have been played in awful gyms in terrible shape in locations where they can not even find a decent hotel or food. You should hear some stories from the last go-round of games, especially one played in a small, smoke-filled gym with an uneven floor. Hopefully, Turkey, Belgium, and the Ukraine locations won't be so bad. The worst part is that these games run almost right up to the start of training camp.

Comment s'explique votre venue ?
(AFP)

Re: Parker will play with French NT this summer
At the very least, the French doctors better be honest this time around. The last two times Parker has played for France, the French doctors haven't had Parker's best interests in mind. They first wanted him to play through a broken finger. Then last year they called his ankle strain mild ... even though that same ankle strain ended up slowing down Parker for about 75% of the regular season.

If Pop is Ok with it fine

Re: Parker will play with French NT this summer
Here is the translation of the last article:
"Tony Parker is going to join the French team this Thursday. Before playing the three qualifying games for the Euro (3rd to 20th September), he was extremely motivated about playing for his country.
How come you’re playing ? Were you afraid to see France failing to qualify for the Euro 2009 ?
No, I think that Michel (Gomez, coach of the French team) built a really, really good team, and that we would have qualified. I just wanted to participate in each step. A 4-year project such as the Americanss. Now we can see the results, it’s a team like the one in 1992, which is dominating everyone. If I want to be the leader of the team, I have to participate in the prequalification games and set an example for the others. With the Spurs, I had body building and shooting exercices : after 3 weeks, I said « bodybuilding and shooting is nice, but what I like is to compete, play the games and win ». Finally, Pop let met go. Now, Michel has to offer him a nice wine, otherwise…
You’re talking about setting an example for others, you’re referring to the others French in the NBA ?
No, I won’t name anyone, each one has his own motication, I’m just talking about mine. Every NBA players has his own agenda but if we want to achieve something, we must be all together in the three to four upcoming years.
Are you ready to play ?
I’m ready to play and I’m in good shape. I know that if I join the team, I will be expected to play at a certain level, or you guys (journalists) will kill me…
Are you going to play every games ?
Yes, no matter what… Even if we win the first 4 games and that I can leave, I will stay until the end.
Watching the Olympics, were you sad not to be there ?
For sure, at the opening ceremony, I wish I could be there. In my carreer, I had the chance to win a lot, the last thing I’m lacking is to win something with the French team. Olympics is something huge and I’d like to experience it one day. It’s the second straight time that we’re missing it. Our failure in Spain (Euro 2007) was devastating. We’re starting from scratch (redeam team bis ?). Why not winning a medal in 2012 ?

Manu never disobeyed Pop, Ducks. To disobey someone they have to be in a position of authority over you and give you an order.
Guess what, from the months of July-September every year, Pop is not in a position of authority over Manu. He's a Spur nine months a year, not twelve. Secondly, Pop never TOLD Manu don't play, because he doesn't have the right. He gave an OPINION that he shouldn't play. Only an opinion, not an order.
If you really want to get into semantics, Tony leads Manu in injuries suffered during international duty 2:1, and Manu hasn't gotten hurt in international competition since 2002.

Re: Parker will play with French NT this summer
GINO got injured earlier today, so I guess Pop is scared to death about TP now!
I hope for San Antonio that GINO will recover quickly.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think TP's broken finger in 2006 and ankle injury last year happened before international competitions, while practicing. He could have been hurt the same way while practicing with the spurs, or playing with his brothers...
Edit :
2006 : Tony Parker broke his finger during a Les Bleus scrimmage against the Brazilian National team.
2007 : Tony Parker injured his left ankle at practice.

Re: Parker will play with French NT this summer
But yeah, the Spurs need to show Manu getting hurt over and over on a slow loop to TP. Get him to get out of stupid azz international games that aren't even the Olympics. With Manu hurt, TP will need to carry the load. Get the rest now.
Got damn.

Re: Parker will play with French NT this summer
Yeah now with Ginobili sidelined for who knows long, Parker needs to shut the French BS down and come home and just take it easy.
