Um Yes they do care. Why do you thinkalot of the Medal winners go and meet the president?? And why was most of the leaders of the world at the Opening Ceremonies?

And you may not think that Olympic sports has nothing to do with National PRIDE, but your way off base.
You must not remember the Mircle on Ice. That is one of the greatest US moments verse the USSR and it created a ton of national pride and patriotism.

Plus the US winning in the olympics gives our troops a boost when they are overseas.
