Pavlyuchenko signs five-year deal with Tottenham Spurs

LONDON: Tottenham confirmed the signing of Russia striker Roman Pavlyuchenko on Monday in a move that may ease the sale of Dimitar Berbatov to Manchester United.
Spurs, who also announced the signing of Croatia defender Vedran Corluka from Manchester City, told the London Stock Exchange that they paid Spartak Moscow €17 million (US$25 million) for Pavlyuchenko on Saturday.
The 26-year-old Pavlyuchenko signed a five-year contract and potentially fills the gap in the squad that would be left by the sale of Berbatov to United.
United has wanted the Bulgaria striker for the past year, but Tottenham has been unhappy with the way in which the Premier League champions have approached the transfer and is reportedly holding out for a transfer fee of 30 million pounds (US$54 million; €37 million).
However, Tottenham was rumored to have accepted an even bigger late bid for Berbatov from United's crosstown rival Manchester City.

Spurs started the season with two straight defeats following the reluctant sale of Robbie Keane to Liverpool and the absence of Berbatov, who has been left out of the team by coach Juande Ramos because he had agitated for a transfer.
The fee would pay for both Pavlyuchenko and Corluka, who cost 8.5 million pounds (US$15 million; €10 million), and boost the club following heavy offseason spending on David Bentley, Luka Modric, Giovani Dos Santos and Heurelho Gomes.
Pavlyuchenko is already known to English fans after scoring both of Russia's goals in last year's 2-1 win at England that helped the team qualify for the European Championship.
Manchester City had already prepared for the departure of Corluka, who requested a transfer when he knew Tottenham was interested in him, by signing Argentina defender Pablo Zabaleta over the weekend.
Corluka, who may play in a defensive midfield role at Tottenham behind his international teammate and friend Modric, signed a six-year contract.
"I am delighted to be here because I am coming to a big club with great players, great ambition," Corluka said, "and also my best friend is here so it is a very happy day for me."

Because you're a dumb ass who needs to learn respect for veteran posters, especially the female ones.

:tu quality signing.
I've been impressed by him at the EC. For a player with his size, he is quite quick/mobile and has good skills.

Re: Pavlyuchenko signs five-year deal with Tottenham Spurs
IMO Pavlyuchenko was even more valuable than arshavin during his Spartak years
