I'm warming up to the idea of an Obama presidency
I was only luke-warm on McCain in the first place. Besides, things are going well in Iraq now. The economy can't be fucked up any worse than it is. Obama won't be able to afford his socialist agenda. Taxes are going to be raised because of this stupid bailout -- with either candidate. Palin is one heartbeat away from the presidency <gasp>. She's has a bright future in politics, but I don't think she's ready right now. She does have more experience at being the chief executive in govt, even though those govt's were small.
Besides, if Obama doesn't win, we will have major riots, and we don't need that.
One thing still bugs me. Why Biden?
Obama bin Biden 2008 -- get on board.

I'm never enthused about any politician nor the system, which has been completely captured by super-wealthy, system-gaming capitalists and corps.
But foreign, black Muslim unpatriotic HUSSEIN! is so much better than old, sick, senile, unstable, pissed-off, stupid, lying, makes-up-shit, wooden, unlearned, unintelligent McSame with insulting VP, there really is no choice.
HUSSEIN! will have little room to maneuver, due to the neo-c*nt Repugs intentionally bankrupting govt and leaving the long-lasting, "dangerous and effective when taken as force-fed" poison pills of Iraq and Afghanistan.
The best I can hope for a HUSSEIN term is flushing out the destructive, willfully incompetent Repug politicized turds from everywhere in govt and replacing them with competents.

Not that we would care, however many out there cannot comprehend why one would not vote for Obama therefore they must just be racists. Bitter redneck hick sister-marrying bubba the south will rise again racists.
When Obama wins, people will rejoice in the streets now that America has made such a giant leap on acceptance, (no thanks to those racists conservatives). Later down the road, when another conservative black leader steps into the spot light and is beaten bloody by the media/left, people will still ignore the hypocricy.
It's just too damn easy to predict the future.

Let's be serious here.
The Republican party in the last century has never been a bastion for civil rights of any kind.
They are openly homophobic today as they were once openly racists towards blacks and other minorities. They are consistently on the wrong side of social progress and only serve to slow the progress that will inevitably be made. Does anyone here seriously believe that gay men and women will not be allowed to marry and obtain the same rights hetero couples get in the 2-3 decades?

Reading this thread shows just what a messed up country we have. People voting for Obama just because he's black, but then calling out those who would vote against him for the same reason. Doesn't matter if he's qualified or not - he'd be the first black president and that's a great reason to vote for him.

How many blacks were at the Republican convention?
The red states are now predominately the states that were slower to adopt civil rights for blacks. In the 1960s the Dems had a strong hold in the south but as the Dems embraced the civil rights movement that began to change and the south turned to being a more Republican base.
