So why don't the wealthy socialists do that?
They alway seem to be advocating it for everyone but themselves....and playing on the feelings of lacking among the poor.
So nobody should be forced to do what they don't want to? Nobody should be forced to pay any taxes, adhere to driving laws, EPA standards, health and safety standards? Where exactly does it end? Because no matter how much acid or mushrooms you ate you should realize that some things should be forced on people.
Actually many wealthy socialists (as well as non-socialists) do just that and redistribute their wealth in the form of charitable contributions and foundations. Fact is that if not everybody is involved that money is just a drop in the bucket and doesn't really change the situation. For you to say they don't do that is just dishonest and not true. How about actually talking in truths instead of just your "gut feelings" or how you perceive things.
But I agree we'll leave this to another thread for another day.

Supporters rally for both campaigns
by Leyla Santiago
Saturday, October 4, 2008
ANCHORAGE, Alaska -- Another weekend, another rally.
Supporters for both the McCain-Palin campaign and for the Obama-Biden ticket voiced their opinions Saturday.
Both campaigns held rallies in downtown Anchorage at the same time.
{snip}
Obama organizers said they had about 1,200 supporters at their rally. The Republican Party said about 300 supporters attended Palin's rally.
According to whottt-o-metrics of correlating rally turnouts to electoral turnouts, Obama wins Alaska in a landslide.

I am the voice of doubt here...I want see a convincing argument for why we will win...impress me.
And I want to be wrong. I have an entire year invested the season...I don't want it to end with our
first finals loss...
I just haven't yet seen a why we will win argument that has as much thought put into it as my why we
probably won't argument.
Go ahead impress me...saying the regular season doesn't count isn't it...
Neither is saying Bruce is going to shut LeBron down.
Put some thought into it...and come up with something someone hasn't said yet...
Don't just give me, we're going to win because the Cavs suck and we're the Spurs and the regular season
doesn't matter.
I guess the we're going to win because the Cavs suck and we're the Spurs argument was the right one.

Yes I bet against the Spurs, and in truth I actually did think the Spurs were going to lose. But not because it was impossible for them to win. That's the whole reason I made the bet.
1. Because Pop was going to keep playing Finley.
2. Because Bruce wouldn't be able to stop LeBron.
I was right about Finley and wrong about Pop and Bruce.
Bruce is probably the other topic I've been the most wrong on on this forum. I've been saying age was going to catch up to him since 2004.
It wasn't as black and white as you want it to be.

And Bruce Bowen will deserve the finals MVP...

So you called the Spurs to lose in a series they won decisively. Palin's looking a lot like those Cavs.

I didn't predict a Spurs loss anywhere in that thread you linked to. I was discussing doubt...but I made no prediction.
I predicted the loss in that link I provided, and the reasoning behind it was pretty sound as was my motivation for the bet.
Finley did choke like a fucking bitch in that series.
You notice I haven't bet on this election, not even a sig bet?
That's because I don't need to :smokin

Hmmmm. I investigated. I was looking at the map and the straight drive from compton to la palma* is 13.69 miles Time: 19 mins
Straight drive from Carson to Los Alamitos* is 12.71 miles Time: 15 mins
*closest possible OC city nearby to each respectable city.
Carson wins.

That's a horrible analogy. If we want to drive on the road we have to obey the safety laws, it's public road, not ours. It's something that belongs to everyone and those laws are for safety, again if you don't obey those laws not only are you endangering yourself, you are endangering others, something you have no right to do. EPA laws could easily fall into the same category. Taxes really should not have to be paid, we pay them as necessary evil...to improve our communities. To the benefit of everyone.
You are expecting someone to pay for your healthcare...you are saying they owe it to you. Why?
Do you pay for their healthcare? Will you ever?
Do you do anything for them?
It's taking something from someone else, and your rationale is that you deserve to have it, they owe it to you...
That's simply theft.

Ahh but you see, if they were really doing it they wouldn't be wealthy anymore.
Good...they want to do it then do it, and the people that want to receive it from them, more power to em. But what right do they or anyone else have to dictate that others have to do it?
IF someone has the right to take money from me to pay for someone else's healthcare, then I have the right to ask and expect something from them in return.
Why do the wealthy owe you anything?
IF you have something I like that I feel entitled to do I have a right to take it from you?

From what I've gathered from reading your posts I'd say WE'D be paying for YOUR healthcare.

If this forum was a community and you were it's only Doctor...
No one listens to you and they continually have ill health from refusing to take your advice, you never have a free moment, you are in effect a slave to the health needs of this forum.
Do we have a right to continue to expect your services?
Because, as you say, it's our right to healthcare?
Beyond all that...I don't get why you trust the government being in charge of that. Governments are corrupt, inanimate entities. Since your health is the most valuable thing you posess..why would you trust a government with it?
There is no such thing as an honest and benevolent government..

So what's your solution to all the people who can't afford the health care they actually need? Fuck 'em because they would have to owe us something. For someone who claims to be so fucking humble, you're an absolute cockstain.

You're in double talk mode again. Pretty much almost everything affects the public, other than what you do in the privacy of your own home. And even then the government has the right to intervene if say you're not properly taking care of your children or so on. Taxes affect the public as well, and those public roads would not be built without taxes. I wouldn't call it a necessary evil at all and don't understand why you see it like that. Highways, roads, public parks, police, fire dept., clean air, water, etc. are all made possible because of taxes. You should look at more of what they give then what they take away. They give much more than they take.

WTF are you talking about?? My healthcare is paid for. One of the perks of being a veteran and having a job. While it may be shitty coverage many times, I still have my healthcare paid for. This is not about me, but what's good for society and what's humane. The fact that you equate it to taking something from somebody else is just plain sad. We are talking about people's lives here not somebody stealing another persons car. Really can't see how any humane person can see it as theft. And the worst part about it is you're not alone in that way of thinking.

You're babbling again. You realize that if they gave their money away it wouldn't really help and would just make them poor, were they would not be in a position to help anybody at all. Yet you don't understand why they don't give away all of their money. They are able to do much more with the capital and influence that they have.
Funny thing is that the wealthy take from the poor all the time. Why do you think your food cost is so low, who do you think serves in the military? It's not the wealthy picking fruit and it's not the family of the wealthy that fight overseas while you're able to be comfortable at home. They are receiving many things from the poor. You're just to blind to recognize it.
Again this is not what's better for me or for the poor. This is what's best for society. Mental healthcare for the poor would be great and would actually reduce crime. Prevention is not overrated and actually works. I actually feel sorry for anybody that purely views it as theft. More hallucinogenics seem to be needed for you. You completely missed the spiritual side of it somewhere.

No one forces them to work cheap, in fact if they didn't we'd all make more money and the rich would have less.
It's not my fault the poor refuse to acknowledge the value of their own labor, if they didn't they'd make more money. And that would be 100% ok with me :tu
That's exactly how you solve that problem.

But it is theft you see...it's imposing your will on someone else and taking something from them.
I could just as easily counter your point that activism, hell people simply interacting with each other is the cause of all conflict. Not just now..but in history.
I forget who said it...but a wise man once said 95% of the worlds problems would come to an end if everyone would just sit still and shutup for 5 minutes. They are exactly right.
Quote:
More hallucinogenics seem to be needed for you. You completely missed the spiritual side of it somewhere.
No I didn't miss the spiritual side of anything, you're just operating under a sense of entitlement. I assume you do it because it makes you feel good about yourself...but really, there's not that much altruistic about it...and if you have to force it, it kinda undermines the entire principle of your stance.
But more importantly your major error is entrusting a government with this task....for they are corrupt, I don't what they claim theiir political leanings are. And the more power they have, and the more they are in control of, the worse it will be for you and I.
As long as we live in a society that produces surplus there will be those that have, and those that have not...and there is nothing you, nor anyone, will ever be able to do is going to change that. Even if it's all under a government distribution plan...then it will be those in the government that have everything. And that's the absolute worst scenario.
If we lived in some tribal society we could pull it off...but then again, we'd then get our ass kicked by a more advanced society, a society that is able to become more advanced, because they produce surplus.
Socialism of the kind you speak of...cannot be forced upon people, for that is when it becomes oppression.
