The word barrio was originally an Arabic word.
As are the words:
Guadalupe (wadi al Hub, lit.: River of Love)
and
Guadalahara (wadi al Hara)
Most Spanish surnames that end in "es" or "ez" were originally Germanic in origin, and stem from the nordic settlers that settled on the northern coast of spain.

I'll probably order a bourbon and hope for the best. Dealing with this mess is a tall task for anyone. But after seeing their respective campaigns, I certainly have more confidence in Obama's executive prowess and decision-making than McCain.
