I don't think it was a HUGE deal, but with these types of things you need to be VERY precise with what you say, every single word is going to be analyzed...he should know that. McCain didn't even stumble over those words, that was what he intended to say. It just sounded out of place, and he could have picked several different ways of addressing his opponent but yet he chose this way...weird.
The handshake is very bothersome. Obama has not indulged in the type of personal attacks that would prompt a sign of animosity like that. McCain is acting small.
