He was absolutely dominant at times in Olympics. Only knock is that he is not huge but all the skills you would ever want in a forward at least offensively. I have heard he has been somewhat up and down this year but it could be post Olympic exhaustion.
The few times I have seen him play he has been one of the best players on court and plays more of an interior game than most foreigners.
I haven't seen much of him, but it looked like it he is primarily, at least an aggressive, relentless inside scorer with a good nose/hands for the ball. Not gracefully athletic, but effective.
Scola is super athletic for his size, i didn't saw him playing a lot, but i was impressed by his game every time. He can get around any defender with ease and is enjoyable to watch.
Any defender?Quote:

Simma down.
Yes it does! On the olimpic tournament, USA team had NBA players if I remember correct!Quote:

How old will he be by the time he gets here? It seems like we've been waiting for him forever.
39.
I don't consider him to be particularly athletic. I like his aggressiveness on the offensive end. He has very good post moves and enough range to be a good fit off the bench for the Spurs schemes. There's no telling whether he's going to work out, but had the ap situation been right, he'd already be a Spur. Pencil him in for next season.
Scola will be 25 next month.
To be honest, the guy plays a lot like Malik Rose, but is bigger, and much more athletic. He is great around the basket, real aggressive. His defense is pretty solid. Teams who have watched him love him, I have heard on ESPN every year how teams were offering us first round picks for him left and right.
Only 25, huh? How old was he when he started playing professionally?
I'm excited about him joining. He will elevate Manu's game, too, because they play so well together.
This is his 7th year as a pro.

Yeah, I should probably include the Argentinan league so as not to offend anyone. We bragged about Parker the same way.
Hmmm. What is his size?Quote:

He's a PF only.
he´s a decent defender also.. in euroleague.. but i just can´t imagine him guarding players like jermaine, amare, KG, and others. he´s just not that tipe of player. he is a bit undersized( 6.8) and he´s not that much athletic as someone thinks. his offence is good, on olimpic games he was playing really good, but that is playing for his own country, and don´t expect him playing like he used in athens every night. he probably will be able to play good offence in nba and score a lot of points, but not against taler and more athletic PF. but no matter what,.. i think he fits in a team like SAS and help them win . maybe he won´t score and rebound 15/10, but he can contribute in his own way..
Here his stats in the ACB league

How many Players are there in the NBA who can to guard players like Jermaine, KG, TD and AmareQuote:

KG, Jermaine and Amare if Scola is guarding him can have a little advantage, but in the other side, they must to play really good, because Luis can play in offensive like the most of good PF
in 2 years Scola will be starting next to DUncan.
Rasho the backup, Mohammed either trade bait, or taking Horry's place as 4th big.
Scola will be THAT good.
Doesn't everyone try as hard as they can in any game?Quote:

Well, certainly not everyone, but I believe Scola will.
No, Scola cant´t be the Starting centerQuote:

Only can play as a starter if the team will move TD to Center
But Scola can be the Clutch Center, with TD as the pair of Big Guys
The TP, Manu, BB, TD and Scola, may be a great Clutch Team
Scola have decent numbers at the Line and not Rasho
Scola looks great against international competition.
Hopefully the NBA game will suit him. It will be fun to watch. I think he'll be a good reserve for the Spurs.
isn't he 6'9 to 6'10?
More like 6'8" - 6'9"
Well, everything I've seen lists him as 2.06m, which is just over 6'9". But I have no idea how they go about doing measurements in Euroleague.
Scola is a legit 6'9" (barefooted 2.04 m barefooted as a junior, he was 17, wich is slightly more than 6'8") I don't know why some people say he's undersized, I've seen him stood side by side with Nene, for instance, and they seemed to have the same height at least, and Nene is listed 6'11" in NBA, when he was near to Ben Wallace, he seemed at least one inch taller, and Big Ben is listed 6'9"...I don't really see how come a 6'9" (that could be easily listed 6'10" in 'NBA way' (malik, Nene or Ben Wallace way)) 240 lbs guy would be undersized for playing PF in NBA.
^^
I agree. Even if he isn't one hair over 6'9", that isn't really undersized when you look around the league at all the guys that are playing. Most PF's aren't seven feet.
Even though the Sixers sucked last year, Kenny Thomas was a good PF that averaged a double double for the year...not bad for a guy who is 6'7"...Quote:
