For him to say it's a signature move is not cool. And the fact that a lot of Euro players do it just proves that more.

What's funny is that they cut away and don't actually show "the move". The fact that he starts on the wrong foot doesn't help. There's a vid of Manu doing the same move correctly on Nike's site.

FIBA officials allow the Euro Step unless Team USA players try to use it.
Up next, Tony Parker illustrates the "Change Pivot Feet" move.

Followed by Lebron James and his "crab dribble." Now, Manu's isn't traveling...that's not what you're saying, is it?

Re: wtf, Rubio stole Manu's move
Manu's move is very similar to Kobe's long-stride move. Most NBA players travel, especially the great ones. If there is ever a break away dunk, there is almost a guarantee there will be three to four steps taken after the last dribble.

Spot on. The shit the NBA players cop in regards to travelling from officials and fans around the world is quite unfair considering the amount of travelling in international basketball. Different versions of travelling, but travelling nonetheless.

FIBA has nothing to do with games in ACB.

In the video Rubio blatantly travels. He takes a bunny hop and then two steps. Manu does it the proper way.

Re: wtf, Rubio stole Manu's move
Who cares about some shitty Nike commercial. Rubio has his biggest strengths on defense, where he has the ability to steal the ball like Payton had and where he's as annoying for the defender as Oberto. Remember, the kid just turned 18 (still has a lot to improve regarding his passing and shooting) and already played three and a half years of high-level pro basketball and an Olympic Final vs Wade, Kidd, Paul, Deron Williams.
To be technical, it's a mirror-image of Manu's move because he'd be finishing it off the right foot with the left hand, but yeah, get what you're saying.
As for Rubio, I hate how most players today can't hit short shots with their off-hand as it makes the shot more difficult and sets a terrible example for all the kids out there, most of whom seem not to bother to develop their off-hand as well.

How can it have nothing to do with FIBA if it plays under FIBA rules. All he's saying is FIBA wouldn't allow Team USA to do it. If it's following FIBA rules, they do decide what rules to implement, right?

Rubio plays only in ACB and ULEB. There is no relation to FIBA. He only has any part of FIBA when he play in national team of Spain. Same way NBA players only have part of if they play for Team US.
FIBA has just as much control in NBA as it does in ACB or ULEB.

Apparently you do not know what this award even is for. NBA players and NCAA players can also win this award and in fact are even in nominees for it this year. Please explain how FIBA controls NCAA and NBA please.

Re: wtf, Rubio stole Manu's move
You seem intent on making this a ULEB versus FIBA issue, when my point originated from Tim Duncan's disdain for the FIBA rules and officiating crew using FIBA basketball rules in the Olympics. Ricky Rubio played in the Olympic Games in 2008, which in the event Men's Basketball, were played using FIBA rules rather than NBA or ULEB rules.
I'm sorry but if you play basketball on the international scene, one cannot avoid some touching of FIBA...not even ULEB.

Re: wtf, Rubio stole Manu's move
Oh, and by the way, the Olympic Games Men's and Women's Basketball events are filled with teams from FIBA zones, plus the FIBA WC winner, plus the host country plus wildcard teams. As I mentioned they play under FIBA rules.
Spain came from the FIBA Europe zone, but of course you would know this.
FIBA Africa (1 team)
FIBA Americas (2 teams)
FIBA Asia (1 team)
FIBA Europe (2 teams)
FIBA Oceania (1 team)
FIBA World Championship winner
Host Olympics Country
Three (Men) or Five (Women Wildcards

Of course he is very overrated. But I must say he is much better than Rudy Fernandez is. Rudy was also so very overrated but he was not actually even very good player. Rubio is very overrate but also there is much ability there.

I'm not the one who brought up ACB, you went down that road. The comments started out mentioning FIBA, as in international governance and rules...national team stuff...not club ball (NBA or ULEB). It is the Eurostep, not the Euroleague step.
