Ugly win, but we'll take it...$$$$$ Mason with his 5th game winner of the season!!! GO SPURS GO!!!!! :flag:
The best I've seen Duncan look in a long time. And Turiaf is a solid defender and has given Duncan fits in the past. That was the most positive sign of the night.
Props for Mason for hitting another game winner.
Parker was solid all night.
Hopefully those shots by Bonner in the 2nd half will help him kick his shooting funk.
Thomas was good all night but choked on those missed ft's.
Mason adding on to his legacy...:tu The ONE thing that kept this game way closer than it shouldve been was...Offensive Rebounds. That's it. Simple as that. The Warriors bigs Wright and Randolph gave the Spurs some trouble down on the block because theyre so damn tall and long. Did you see the length of that kid Randolph's arms? Craaazy. Thats really the only thing that kept the W's in the game. Well that and Timmy playing limited mins..if he's out there playing normal mins we have a bit more of a cushion.
I love Randolph. The length of him, Wright, and Biedrins is incredible.
I can't believe Nelson has handled a player so well as he has done with Randolph.
I want Kellena on the Spurs, he's a good player, and tries on D, IIRC.
Spurs used to pound the likes of Golden State with regularity.
Tonight, they tried to give it away. GS just couldn't make that last shot.
A one-pt victory over these guys is nothing to celebrate.
Please stop using the manu argument for a game against the warriors. Even without him and with Tim at 50% we have all the tool to get an easy win.
The best thing about tonight's game is Mason Jr. Great game for Roger and it should help him get his confidence back. He's definitely a tough player. Good job Roger!
Now as for the rest of the game it was pretty mediocre ball again. I don't understand it. Can the whole reason for these games be not having Manu?
I don't think it can. I just think a lot of this lazy play is on Pop. He's been screwing around all year and his team is playing lazy, sloppy and unfocused because of it. It's Pop's job to get the team to play to their potential and the Spurs are simply not playing anywhere near their potential. Pop needs to get it together cause we should be blowing out teams like this at home. We should not be going down to the wire and almost losing the game. That is poor to say the least.
But can we blame it all on Pop? Really?
A question we should all ask is, what is causing Pop to do these things with his bench? Is the team lousy because of his substitution patterns? Or are his substitution patterns the way they are because the team was lousy to begin with?
It's kind of a chicken or the egg kind of thing ...
I'm just skeptical that such an accomplished coach like Pop can just lose his mojo like that. A player? Sure. They get old, injured, etc. But a coach?
Tim looked great, Tony was Tony as usual, can't wait to have Manu back.
Winning wall.

I just watched the first half highlights on nba.com....did tony travelled on those two shots he made?
a team like Golden State is always dangerous when you're short part of your main core. They're very fast, and Manu is always huge against them. And yes...when a huge part of your main rotation, and thus, your offense is gone, he is important no matter who you're playing.
This game really made me feel we got a HELL of a better end of the deal when it came to Corey Maggette. Felt bad that he got hurt, and I hope he doesn't have a concussion. But he did not have a good game, and Mason was a monster. Take away the money we would have had to spend to get Maggette, and we lose a lot of what we have right now...Mason, Gooden....Glad it didn't work out.
Yay great game for Mason!! && of course for Kurt! I love how he goes for rebounds...that's what gives us possesion or a 2nd shot!! Especially that he grabs the damn ball...I seriously hate the volleyball tap out...sometimes it works but just get aggressive and grab it!!! && I must add....that foul was totally before the shot if anything was to be called!! All in all good game, nice shot Mase, and looks like we should have good energy left for tomorrow! =)
As for barely beating a sub 500 team - Sean said early in the game that playing against a team with nothing to lose is always dangerous because they play fast and loose.
Sean and Bill also talked about Tony being fatigued and that there isn't much movement when he's on the bench. They said Tony is about the only one out there who can create his own shot; and that Tony can't play 48 minutes - so the offense is really struggling right now. That's where Manu will really help!
I can't wait to see this team as a whole finally...hopefully starting tomorrow!
As the great, wise Dominic Toretto would say, "It don't matter if you win by an inch or a mile. Winning's winning." So eh I'll take it!! lol =)
Hope you had a great birthday spurschick. Thanks for the mojo. :toast
