How about Karl?
I like this pick. I don't think Pop will win it because of the same reason Sloan won't: Both their teams had some really great surges depsite having major injury problems, but they fizzled at the end with some inconsistent play. Obviously, we finished better than Utah and Pop did a lot with a little at times, but the 2nd half of the season had some rough patches....not to mention some bad losses to OKC.
I would vote for Adelman. Pop could win any year because he always fields a playoff team even as players come and go. Also he is able to balance egos and keep players happy in their roles. His biggest weakness IMO is not developing young players. That is hard to do when you're always in contention and every game matters. I think with George Hill they decided he wasn't going to be ready to be the backup PG for the playoffs, and there isn't a lot of room for him at SG. I would like to see him play more, like everyone else, but I'm not sure that Pop is wrong to take him out of the rotation.
With Manu down, there's room for everyone. :lol
The serious issue there is Pop didn't allow him to develop/get comfortable enough at the position with any particular rotation to feel comfortable fitting him in on the offensive side of the ball....that, and his jumper lacks consistency, but that could and should change this offseason. I repeat, he and Tony should be the Dumars and Isaiah Thomas of this backcourt in the future IMO.
