Are your serious??? Protests against an progressive tax system is anti Obama? This nation used to be about how much you grossed per year and now it's about our net. Taxes take out almost 50% - some say more - of our anual earinigs. That takes into account federal, state and local taxes. The welfare state has grown from it's inception and entitlements aboundn. I'm not saying that we shouldn't try to take care of the less fortunate in society but there needs to be a balance and many think there isn't one anymore.
Because he is black!!! Our president???? Me thinks you are showing your colors, too! How about a left of center liberal that believes in socialism. That big brother needs to step in and take over how this nation needs to be run. This man took over $120K from Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac in a three year period in lobby $$$. Now that was a good haul for any politican. He was part of the problem just like many a Republican. We have a major problem on the federal level and it has to do with politicans feathering their beds at the expense of the populace. The creeping socialism that was discuused in the '70's and 80's aint creeping anymore. It's been to pick up momentum for some time and if we don't stop it or at least slow it down then in a few generations we will be another epithat in the history books.
White sheets!!! You've played the racist card from the beginning. Surprised you aren't related to Johnny Cochran. Have you ever thought that people demonstrate about polices and ideas rather strictly about race? Many of the voters for Obama are in the lower income brackets and need for the government to step in and transfer monies from the productive side of society to the nonproductive one. Be careful here. If you continue to take more and more from the productive side of society in order to keep the nonproductive side content then expect for future genrations to produce less. Why? Simply becasue it isn't in their best interest to work and produce only for the govertnment to take the majority of it in taxes. Eventually they will scale back their efforts to match the taxes they pay which means that society will have less to go around. ie...Soviet Union is a recent example and Rome is the classic example when researching the effects the public dole has on society.
As George Bernard Shaw stated very well "A government which robs Peter to pay Paul can always depend on the support of Paul".
As we continue to let government expand another quote comes to mind. This one by Thomas Jefferson. "A governemt big enough to give you everything you want, is strong enough to take everything you have."
In the video wasn't there a brief segment about how our monies are being taken from the people and being spent unwisely? That it had nothing to do with Republican party and I think she was referring to the federal government?
"Democracy must be something more than two wolves and a sheep voting on what to have for dinner" James Bovard, Civil Libertarian (1994).
WE be the sheep. Lamb chops anyone?
1/4 Cup dijon mustard
1/4 Cup honey
1 clove garlic, minced
1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
4 each large lamb shoulder chops
Mix together first 5 ingredients.
Trim excess fat from chops; place chops on grill.
Generously spread chops with half of spice mixture and baste during grilling.
Cook each side for 3 - 4 minutes to seal then another 3 - 4 minutes for medium. For well done chops, continue cooking for another 2 - 3 minutes.
Served here with cannellini beans and stewed zucchini with tomatoes.

Which bracket do you fall in? if your taxes went up it's because you are in the top 1 percent of money makers. So you must be a multi millionaire then!
BTW I never had lamb chops is this a real recipe?
Re: CNN reporter taken to task
I like lamb chops. Does that make me a wolf?
Re: CNN reporter taken to task
lol i tried to click on the video to fullscale it and it read "This video is no longer available due to a copyright claim by Cable News Network, Inc."
Re: CNN reporter taken to task
The reporter was a bitch, so people were bitching about that.
Re: CNN reporter taken to task
i wonder why CNN would remove a video because of a copyright claim when most of the footage was the aftermath...

Re: CNN reporter taken to task
lower middle to mddle class - I usually get money back but my tax status isn't the issue. And far from me being a multi millionaire though I wish it were so. The historical evidence is indisputable to me - this nation has a progressive tax structure and takes from the well to do to transfer it to the less fortunate. I believe that we as a people should take care of the less fortunate but not neccessarily to the extent that it is being done now. And frankly I really don't know what to do about this situation either. But to me I see a subservient class of people with little hope and dependent on the government for it's very survival. This isn't what I think our founding fathers had envisioned nor is it a helathy situation. Like Rome where the Ceasar's used to public dole and the games to quiet the lower classes and keep them under control I see the very same thing with entittlements. They are pertetuating themselves with a mental attitude that they are entittled to these benefits. And the situation continues to grow and one day it will have to be reconciled. I'm not happy with either party and unfortunately a third party movement isn't going to happen unless this nation has some sort of ephihany or revelation of some kind. But I only see apathetic people struggling to make ends meet. The chasm between the rich and the rest of us is widening. And I don't think socialism to the extent that the Democratic Party wants is the answer. A blend of socialism and capitalism but to what %s each will get is up for debate. I just know the system is broke and a massive overhaul isn't likely to work. Could this be a symptom of a maturing nation where at some point in time the acquisition of material goods superseeds all else, especially the ethics and morality on which this nation was built?
Many a time when I discuss politics I usually get a response along the lines of "What can I do? I'm just one person. I have so much to do I really don't have the time to protest/go to meetings/ do mailouts...etc." And I really can't blame them but as we go so goes the nation.
And yes that is a real recipe and I got it from Epicurious.com.
I like lamb too so I guess I also voted to have the sheep!
Madonna was right - we are living in a material world!

Spiritual renewal? One of the primal American themes....

It's rather late in the day to be worried about that, but your aim is true IMO.
It's more to the point immediately that debt and liabilities have wildly outstripped the available wealth. The spectacle is Weimar decadence and the shadow it casts is national default. But the roots of the problem may be more or less as you describe.
Nothing stresses the prevailing immorality quite so well as stressing the importance of morality.
BTW, thanks for the recipe. I just bookmarked it.
