The Spurs are probably going to get pounded, but I'm gonna be rooting like crazy for them.
I think the Spurs win in 7.

Its your destiny to lose Spurs fans..the time has come and the dynasty is over. Next year i suggest sitting out TD with a bogus injury so that you all my claim the #1 pick

I agree, although I don't know if you're being serious.
I detect too much optimism, elation, SOMETHIN from Mavs fans. It's gonna be annoying as fuck when certain posters start spewing the anti-Mav garbage if we lose this series. Certain Mavs posters that is.
I dunno who is gonna win, the homer in me says Mavs in 6 but there are plenty of reasons the Spurs can win this series. Parker, home court, coaching, execution, Mavs shoddy defense, Mavs heartache from the rigged 2006 Finals, etc.

Re: Hollinger picks Mavs in 6
Aside from Parker going absolutely nuts, I don't see a single reason the Spurs can win the series. They have home court advantage, but their record at home is the worst it's been since Timmy has been on the team. Carlisle has developed his young talent giving the team some depth, while Pop has ground his into the ground or cut them loose right when they might have had a chance to contribute. The Mavs have been great lately at closing out games, and Jason Terry, as much as I hate him, has finally started to look like the player he's always thought he was. I also have no confidence in the Spurs' offense, because they rely on way too many jumpshots, while the Mavericks' game has been moving closer to the basket over the last couple of months.

Well, there is the fact that the Mavs may be the least clutch team in the history of the playoffs, and will resort to blaming everything around them as soon as anything stops going their way. That and the MMFLs counting their chickens, again, gives me a little bit of hope.

Shit, take a look at the stats from the last 3 star guards the Mavs played. If that's one of the main keys to the Spurs advancing, I'd be pretty happy if I were a low life spurfan.

I agree. There's little doubt Parker's going to go nuts on Kidd, but I doubt it'll be enough, and he can't do it for 16 wins anyway.

Re: Hollinger picks Mavs in 6
I don't see the Mavs extending this series past 5 or 6 games. If you actually have been watching the Mavs at all, they have absolutely no bench or depth whatsoever. Add the fact JHo has been injured/hobbled and that wether he's going to show up to play a complete puzzle and I don't think they have enough with Dirk and Terry. On the othe side of the coin, not only they have no answer for TP, but they really don't have anybody outside of Dampier to guard TD, and Dampier hasn't been that good of a defender historically on Tim. Mason has been upping his game, and if you look at the last few games, our defense has picked up considerably aswell.
Since Kidd got to Dallas, I actually think the matchups work in our advantage. The head to head record seems to indicate that aswell, with the Spurs taking 5 of the last 7 against them.
All in all, I absolutely like our chances against this team.

Good to see you're setting the bar incredibly low, OV. When the Spurs get swept in the WCF by the Lakers/Trailblazers, you'll be the only person on ST pumped up.:lmao

Why is it that whenever the team "appears" to be at the end of their championship run (key word being appears) then suddenly our dynasty is coming to an end, yet when we win a championship the consensus is that we have no dynasty until we win back-to-back titles? :wtf

That scintillating 11-8 finish coupled with Pop giving Jacque Vaughn minutes is what set the bar low. If the Spurs win two playoff series this year I'll be absolutely elated. If they win one I'll be very surprised.

Yet JV never got minutes when Pop started to shorten the rotations, so I think it's safe to say JV will get less minutes than Hill in the POs, and the same number as MW.

That would be nice, but there are no safe bets. Hill hasn't gotten meaningful minutes down the stretch, and Marcus is playing for Austin. Besides, JV only needs enough minutes for his guy to catch fire.

But, good luck to your Mavs and may everyone stay healthy.

Mid-April forum actually. JHo is still bothered by his ankle, Barea is still borderline NBA material, and Dampier is well, still Erica. Kidd has been washed up for a while now. This is not the 2006 Mavericks.

JHo is still bothered by his ankle,
He's reverted to vintage form since there's only a year left on his deal. He's playing better than he has in the past 18 months.

Barea is still borderline NBA material,
And he'll get spot rotation minutes accordingly. JJ Barea isn't deciding this series for either team, so why bring him up?

We've owned your asses in spite of him. Why the irrelevant non sequitur?

Far from his prime, but still a very, very good player. You're just not very good at this, are you?

And these aint the 03, 05 and 07 Spurs. For what it's worth, I think the Spurs win this thing in 7. Your overconfidence is comical.

So does his curse only apply to the Mavericks, or will we have a Jazz vs Rockets/Spurs vs New Orleans second round?

I'm guardedly optimistic about this series, but I think the Spurs are going to prove to be a tough out. The rational, objective part of me says Spurs in 7. It doesn't take much rose tint in my glasses to see the Mavs winning instead. I think it's going to be a tough 6-7 game series no matter who wins.
