Re: Who actually believes the Tea Parties were about taxes?
pretty obvious what is going on
Republicans are playing people like puppets to try and smear this administration and regain all the lost ground of the bush years
these tea parties probably were initially set up by organizations like that. then the rest of the sheep followed, but for different, noble reasons.
i find all of this funny because Obama has only been in office for like 3 months and the Democrats have only been in control of the Senate for 2 years. republicans were in the white house for the past 8 years and started this whole mess we have now. and republicans ran congress since 1992.

no way the GOP loses more seat than they already have. the pendulum is about to swing the other way... at least a little bit.

Re: Who actually believes the Tea Parties were about taxes?
I'd venture to say that about 15 or 20% of all the people present went just to see what was going on and didn't participate at all.
Take San Antonio for example. Lots of tourists around the Alamo... some see a big ass crowd, lots of cameras, and hear some familiar names are gonna speak... so they hang around. Shit.. it's Alamo Plaza... there were probably gonna be a few thousand people in that general area just walking around anyway.
I went because it was a 15 minute walk from where I go to school and I wanted to see what it was gonna be like.

Not every time. It got a little old hat during the Bush years.

Re: Who actually believes the Tea Parties were about taxes?
Left wing or liberal led protests get far more coverage and press than right wing or conservative led protests. Sad but true.
-
Re: Who actually believes the Tea Parties were about taxes?
It was just a bunch of stupid pissed of rednecks being fucking idiots. Their was no point nor did it serve as a message to anyone.
Some were holding signs say no taxation with out representation, the only problem with that is that they r represented!

Re: Who actually believes the Tea Parties were about taxes?
If it had been a protest against Proposition 8 or protest about fighting global warming, would there have been a point or message to their protests? Or are they fucking idiots too?

Re: Who actually believes the Tea Parties were about taxes?
People dont realize this is all bushes fault with his excessive spending to fund the war that got us in this mess. How did people think he was paying 4 it? What is it 17 trillion tax payers dollars? Then they elect Obama thinking he is god and expect him to fix everything with the snap of his finger the first day he is in office. Then when he doesnt they get mad, and start saying stupid shit?!?!?!? and they want universal health care??!?!?!?! Do u kno that would raise income tax to around 35% and they r complaining cause Obama has raised taxes 3%?!?!?!?!?!?!?! The typical American these days if a fucking idiot (the average American has the iq of a 8th grader) 200 Ibs over weight that wants what they want with no consequences.

They probably protest more often.
Sad but true.

Re: Who actually believes the Tea Parties were about taxes?
Protestors at pro gay marriage rallies and protests and pro global warming protestors are considered more news worthy than say protests that are led by conservatives and/or Republicans. It's the truth and you know it.

Re: Who actually believes the Tea Parties were about taxes?
I don't know that.
I would for you to provide some proof.

No, he, and presidents and Congresses past and present are forcing ALL future taxpayers to shoulder a great burden so that people today can live (WAY) above their means.

The Bailouts and Stimulus that have been passed in the past 6 months cost multiples of times more than BOTH the Iraq and Afghan wars have cost in the past 6 years.

To you lefties. By the ignorant comments I see you all making here, I have one suggestion. Learn why the protest occurred instead of making such asinine remarks.

Don't forget W's from this time last year. Can we even tell the parties apart at this point?

From the way they both bitch when out of power, no; from what they do once they get it back, not really IMO. The continuity between Obama and Bush is considerable, despite the intense mutual hatred of partisans.

Indeed. That's why most partisan bickering is ultimately about divergent political philosophies instead of different political realities.
I think the second vote on the original bailout in the House was most instructive, as it served to provide a list of who was a member of the 'DC party' and who was not. Truly conservative Republicans and liberal Democrats have more in common than they might think.
