Obama has put us in some deep shit financially and is now trying to nationalize and socialize the banks;
He has a joke for a vice-president;
a Homeland Security Director that doesn't know it's illegal to cross our border without proper authority;
An Energy Secretary that called himself silly today;
A Financial Czar that can't stay awake during meetings;
A Secretary of State that thinks she's the president and is resetting -- or overcharging -- our relationships around the globe; and, for his part;
A president that has embarked on a global "America sucks and we're sorry tour," of every tin horn dictatorship in the world.
We're in the best of hands...

Obama has restored our image across the Globe.
Has taken the correct steps in both Afghanistan and Iraq.
Has ended the secrecy of the Bush administration.
Is more respected as POTUS than Bush ever was.
Has a true VP and not a President as VP.
Makes the decisions on his own and doesn't defer to the VP.
And has been able to get the republican party in total meltdown mode since day 1.
Has guys like yoniwhore crying themselves to sleep everynight.

Whose Treasury Secretary talked him into instructing (perhaps 'blackmailing' is too strong a term) Congress to give the Executive Branch a $700 billion blank check, to, at best, buy distressed assets from large financial services firms, including the firm of which the secretary was formerly Chairman and CEO?
Why is it that what happened prior to Jan. 20, 2009 is somehow expunged from the public record?

Aren't you tired of arguing that one? There is no clear winner on either side, and we will not changed each others mind.
Let it die.

Also, how does that somehow escape the definition of "socialism"? It certainly doesn't seem consistent with classical liberalism.

I'm a more of a classic liberal than those on the left. Today's liberals are Socialists, Communists, Marxist, etc. All of them want to advance authoritarianism.

How was Bush's blank check that much different?
Authoritarianism is a product of both sides at this point. Let's stop pretending otherwise. TARP wasn't 'socialist' when Bush rammed it through, but now it is since a Demo is in the White House? Same for that Medicare drugs handout.

Why is it that state intervention is akin to rainbows and puppies when you agree with it? How is it that somehow all of the qualities that make you suspicious of the state in one area of life magically disappear when it's in another area?

If you're really keeping score at home then you should see that the score is we fucked up and the Democrats have kicked our ass. Now they get to do some of the crap they want to do. I think their policies will be their undoing but I'll give them some time to prove me wrong before I start talking shit.

no, the financial sector, dominated by Repug CEOs,
McLiar and pitbull bitch would have continued Hank Goldman Paulsen's robbery exactly as Tim Goldman Geithner has.
I predicted that the Repugs would blame their entire mess, any and every mess, exclusively on the Dems, just like they blamed the entirely on 9/11 on Clinton.

It's not. I was opposed to that bailout as well but, in fairness, that was a bipartisan decision and it didn't come with strings that put the government in a position to nationalize the corporations.
Why won't Obama take payments from the banks? There are more than a few who want to pay back the bailout money.

It's different in that Obama now wants to convert the preferred stock in those companies to common stock and, therefore, give the government control of the boards of those banks.
That's the difference between what President Bush advocated and what President Obama is trying to do...it's called socialism.
Again, I ask, why won't the federal government allow the banks to pay back the loans?

You want to trust the banks immediately after they fucked over the entire world economy?

"Loans" from the government to a private enterprise. Yep, that's good ol' fashioned pull-yerself-up-by-yer-bootstraps American free enterprise. Just like expanding Medicare was letting da free market work.

Ask any vet, any man who has seen real wartime.
There is one guarantee in war:
Either way, both sides lose.
There's not a better example of that than Iraq.
"Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed. The world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children...
This is not a way of life at all, in any true sense. Under the cloud of threatening war, it is humanity hanging from a cross of iron."

Has he named a horse show judge to head up FEMA?
Did he nominate Harriet Meiers to the Supreme court?
Did he take a vacation in the aftermath of the worst hurricaine disaster of the last 75 years?
Did he lie to the UN and US public in order to invade another country?

No fucking way.
The most sacred trust a commander in chief has is to lead troops in a competant manner.
Our troops are willing to lay their lives on the line, and trust at some level that they will be used effectively and with a purpose.
That trust was completely breached by the grabasstic, fucktardedly stupid way the Iraq occupation was run AT THE HIGHEST LEVELS, for 3 years.
I will NEVER, EVER forget that.
If you want to laugh off or "forget" 3,000+ of our best citizens who answered the call of duty for their country because of your partisan concerns, you can suck my ass.
Anyone who defended Bush and his policy in Iraq in that time, placed party over country in an shameful display of treason, and I cannot forgive that.
Republicans in general have NEVER admitted that mistake, and for that, if nothing else, I would literally vote for a blue dog over any Republican.

Unecessary wars are yesterday's news.. 4,000 dead GIs, hundred thousand thousand or so dead civilians... We need to forget that and concentrate on how we can attack the current president over his gifts, use of a teleprompter, and handshakes. Can't we just move beyod that whole Iraq thing and concentrate on the imprtant stuff?
