It's different in that Obama now wants to convert the preferred stock in those companies to common stock and, therefore, give the government control of the boards of those banks.
That's the difference between what President Bush advocated and what President Obama is trying to do...it's called socialism.
Again, I ask, why won't the federal government allow the banks to pay back the loans?
You want to trust the banks immediately after they fucked over the entire world economy?
They made the deal with the devil by taking the money. They can suck on it for awhile as far as I'm concerned.

"Loans" from the government to a private enterprise. Yep, that's good ol' fashioned pull-yerself-up-by-yer-bootstraps American free enterprise. Just like expanding Medicare was letting da free market work.

Why won't Obama take payments from the banks? There are more than a few who want to pay back the bailout money.
Bipartisan? Which partisan came up with the idea?

Ask any vet, any man who has seen real wartime.
There is one guarantee in war:
Either way, both sides lose.
There's not a better example of that than Iraq.
"Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed. The world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children...
This is not a way of life at all, in any true sense. Under the cloud of threatening war, it is humanity hanging from a cross of iron."

Has he named a horse show judge to head up FEMA?
Did he nominate Harriet Meiers to the Supreme court?
Did he take a vacation in the aftermath of the worst hurricaine disaster of the last 75 years?
Did he lie to the UN and US public in order to invade another country?
Can he tell the difference between shia and sunni?
Can he name a newspaper he reads?
and lastly:
DID HIS CRIMINAL INCOMPETANCE DIRECTLY LEAD TO THOUSANDS OF OUR TROOPS BEING NEEDLESSLY KILLED?

No fucking way.
The most sacred trust a commander in chief has is to lead troops in a competant manner.
Our troops are willing to lay their lives on the line, and trust at some level that they will be used effectively and with a purpose.
That trust was completely breached by the grabasstic, fucktardedly stupid way the Iraq occupation was run AT THE HIGHEST LEVELS, for 3 years.
I will NEVER, EVER forget that.
If you want to laugh off or "forget" 3,000+ of our best citizens who answered the call of duty for their country because of your partisan concerns, you can suck my ass.
Anyone who defended Bush and his policy in Iraq in that time, placed party over country in an shameful display of treason, and I cannot forgive that.
Republicans in general have NEVER admitted that mistake, and for that, if nothing else, I would literally vote for a blue dog over any Republican.

Unecessary wars are yesterday's news.. 4,000 dead GIs, hundred thousand thousand or so dead civilians... We need to forget that and concentrate on how we can attack the current president over his gifts, use of a teleprompter, and handshakes. Can't we just move beyod that whole Iraq thing and concentrate on the imprtant stuff?
