Too bad it was the Air Force that came up with and signed off on this whole idea and that the White House didn't. But that's okay, don't let reality get in your way.

Yeah, the White House's Military Command i.e. the Defense Dept/Air Force. Obama didn't even know about it and was "furious" when told.
So I don't really care what some back-asswards, Rush carrying, AM station told you. I'll stick with the AP.
And before you come back with some lame ass attack about Obama not knowing it was happening: I think he's got bigger things to deal with right now than keeping his personal eyes trained on what the military is doing with the spare Air Force 1 jet.
Meh, the Director of the WH Military Office never talks to the Commander In Cheif.

Minus a few wing-nut idiot papers like the San Diego Trib, who didn't? The Salt Lake Tribune, i.e. the largest newspaper in the reddest state in America, endorsed Obama. I'm sorry dude, but Palin is a fucking moron and McCain was absolutely lost. So say what you want about endorsements, but let's not pretend that the republican ticket wasn't a complete fucking joke, thereby forcing any paper with any common sense whatsoever, to pull the lever for Obama. Whether they liked him much or not, at least he wasn't McCain/Palin.

They SHOULD have informed the public earlier. I don't care if it was 30 minutes before they did it, so they could reach a compromise between security and safety.
But this was terrible. My wife was telling me a co-worker of her had her son in the city, and was calling and telling her about this whole surreal scene in the city streets.

Civics 101. we all participate in self governing no matter who wins what. Despite what the left would like to have happen, winning the election does not cancel out the constituton,or the bill of rights, so the Magna Carta of the second Camelot can be proclaimed. So unfortunatelly people will think for themselves and voice dissent and will not be getting thrills of pleasure running up and down their legs at obama's pecs.

The White House has apologised after a low-level flight by a presidential jet and a fighter plane sparked panic among New York City office workers.
The half-hour flight triggered the evacuation of a number of office buildings in the city.
Pentagon officials said the fly past - a photographic exercise not involving President Obama - had been co-ordinated with city and state authorities.
No general public notification was issued in advance.
"While federal authorities took the proper steps to notify state and local authorities in New York and New Jersey, it's clear that the mission created confusion and disruption," Louis Caldera, director of the White House military office, said in a statement.
"I apologise and take responsibility for any distress that flight caused."
New Yorkers were startled as the planes flew over the city's harbour
Correspondents say many New York residents are still scarred by the September 2001 attacks when airliners ploughed into the World Trade Center in New York and the Pentagon in Washington DC.
New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg said he was "furious" about the incident, criticising those responsible for failing to warn the public.
"The good news is it was nothing more than an inconsiderate, badly conceived and insensitive photo op with the taxpayers' money," said Mr Bloomberg.
The Boeing 747 jet is one of two planes known as Air Force One when the US president is aboard.
The only reason to hype this is simple emotional payback by the right for having to defend Bush for 8 years.

I think the consensus is that the day "you guys" stop attempting to blame Obama for every single thing that not only goes wrong, but just against the right-wing ideals of perfection, he will stop being defended against things that aren't his fault.
Oh, and lambasting him for something like this after defending Bush for so many years over so many fuck-ups is the reason for the rebuttal of Iraq. It's kind of like Tracy McGrady talking down to Brandon Roy because he doesn't have any rings. :lol

FAIL
Goering was the Air Marshal, ( Generalfeldmarschall of the Luftwaffe) however, not the Minister of Propaganda.
He said this:

He hasn't. It's only you obsessed right wingers who are offering the ridiculous assertion that Obama is beyond reproach from the left. Not a single person on this board, no matter how left-leaning, has stated that Obama has fixed everything. In fact, most of us have stated how he hasn't even had time to do much good, either. I'm still on the fence about Obama's presidential term, because IT'S TOO EARLY TO TELL how it's going to do as president. But don't let that get in the way of convincing yourself that anyone who voted for Obama automatically sees him as the son of God reincarnate. :toast

I'm still on the fence about Obama's presidential term, because IT'S TOO EARLY TO TELL how it's going to do as president. But don't let that get in the way of convincing yourself that anyone who voted for Obama automatically sees him as the son of God reincarnate. :toast
Ahhh, the broken record of the right, after losing an election. I don't love Obama. Most posters on this board, even the "crazy lib'ruls" don't love Obama. We are just happy to see a president in office who isn't willing to completely annihilate what little respect the rest of the world has for us just to make his oil chairman V.P. happy and be buddy buddy with big business.
No most of his buddies are in banking.....Even crazy libreals, well no I shouldn't say that even most democrats especially those that supported Hilary were able to see a huge Media blitz to shove obama down peoples throats I mean even Hilary's people spoke out against it.

I supported the war in Iraq when it first started, too.
Of course, that was before I realized president Bush completely, openly lied to the entire American populace about intelligence had received concerning WoMD, before the Bush administration tried to make an incredibly ridiculous ploy on linking Iraq to Al-Qaeda in order to stoke the fears of the populace into becoming accepting of a war that they had lied about, before Bush sent troops into Iraq without so much as armor on their vehicles, and before I realized that it was nothing more than an obvious grab for money by Bush and Cheney to have access to oil so that they could give Haliburton a no-bid contract.
After those things happened, I revised my opinion on Iraq just a little bit. I guess it was my fault for not suspecting our president of lying to the American people.

Oh yes that slippery old bush. Now Let's get this straight I',m supposed to believe that some of the most astute bloodthirsty political sharks on the entire planet, are in fact fifteen year old catholic school girls who somehow got lured into the broom closet by a village idiot from texas.Well your free to live with that illusion if you like, god knows we all have different ones, but please don't ask me to buy it.

You mean you changed your mind after being force fed the anti-war propaganda for 7 years. The libs did their best to constantly talk bad about the war - like "the surge has failed, the war is lost" Harry Reid. And the media went right along with it - only telling the bad stuff and spreading the propaganda every night.

No. It was all of the information that came out afterward that changed my mind. I am mildly surpprised that you and the other dead enders are oblivious to all of the information that has come out after the fact that refuted most of what bush sold..

It was stupid not to inform the people of NY beforehand. Whoever gave the order to repress that information should resign.
Not much else to say.

So, this administration has spent it's first 100 days trying to make our enemies feel better about us while scaring the beejebus out of U. S. Citizens. Nothing could have underscored this sentiment better than buzzing New York City with Air Force One...and, doing so pretty much on the same flight path as the jet that slammed into the South Tower. Nice call.

If Air Force One is flying, then either (A) the President is on it, or (B) the President authorized it to fly without him. Because if one plane is in the air, that means Obama can't fly on the other one. So this little photo op was planned and authorized in advance.

What's the political benefit here? What does Obama gain by the ruse, if it is that?
There's plenty of feigned outraged in this thread. It'll be interesting to see how many pages the butthurt right can stretch this one out to. The iPod thread got up to 8.

It's hard to keep objectivity when such idiocy is being constantly thrown around on these boards. My political views have changed little -- my ability to tolerate such ridiculousness on this forum has decreased significantly.

This is quite possibly the most tasteless post I have ever seen.
(shakes head)
I am dumbfounded.
Trying to score cheap political points using a video of people jumping to their deaths on 9-11 in a crass display of insensitivity, to point out a crass display of insensitivity.
Just when I thought the right couldn't possibly go any lower.
In-credible.

Only because the president was allegedly not on it.
Airforce One is the call sign given to any airplane that carries the president.
I cannot help but wonder if he was really on the airplane, and wanted to see NY up close.
